Sierra Army Depot is located in Herlong CA, a rural town in Northern California. Herlong is approximately 60 miles north of Reno, NV, and 35 miles south of Susanville, CA.

Sun, 1530-0600. All shifts are 4 shifts per week 12.5 hours per shift. Shifts rotate every 4 months.
Responsible to dispatch firefighting apparatus, ambulances, rescue equipment, and first aid services, as needed; on the installation and to external organizations who have mutual aid agreements.
Maintain constant liaison with the scene of the emergency to include but not limited to; fire/police officials, fire station, police, medical, and any other units involved with the emergency, until official termination of the incident.
Transmit over the radio in both clear and secure net.
Maintain a log of calls and incidents for the Fire and Police departments, record time and supplementary information for all emergency incidents.
Initiate proper action on all alarms received.
Answer and screen all 911 emergency calls and personal telephone inquiries and refer calls, to other personnel, or component organizations as appropriate.

Must obtain and maintain certification in Telecommunicator I and II, DOD Hazardous Materials Awareness, California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (CLETS). Continuous current certification is a condition of employment.
Must obtain and maintain certification in National Crime Intervention Center (NCIC). Continuous current certification is a condition of employment.
The incumbent is responsible for attaining continuing dispatch education requirements through in-service training that is offered locally.
Must be able obtain and maintain a valid State driver's license.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance for this position.
The incumbent is required to work regardless of weather conditions or base closure and to report to the duty station at the regularly scheduled time.
Must be able to work an alternate work schedule which requires rotating shifts and an uncommon tour of duty (including nights, weekends and holidays).
Rotating between the following shifts every 4 months: 1st Shift - from 5:30 am to 6:00 pm, or 2nd Shift
5:30 pm to 6:00 am, 4 - 12 and 1/2 hour shifts per week (10 Regular Hours and 2.5 Overtime Hours per Day
4 days a week).
Requires overtime work.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:
Monitoring various police and fire channels and dispatching emergency response resources as required. Operating a variety of computer programs within central dispatch to assist personnel. Maintaining accurate emergency services records. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
