SUMMARY: The SES Asst. Supervisor is responsible for carrying out the essential duties and responsibilities of Security and Emergency Services operations under the direction of the Manager in accordance with the GS Operations Manual and all applicable policies and SOPs. This position promotes the safety, security and well-being of residents, employees, and visitors as a uniformed visible presence in the community. The SES Asst. Supervisor is also responsible for providing supervision and oversight of an assigned shift in the absence of the SES Supervisor. The SES Asst. Supervisor delivers exceptional customer service and hospitality, and fosters an environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging.

Compensation: Ranges from $21.00/hour - $25.00/hour, plus applicable $1.00/hour night differential and applicable $1.00/hour EMT or Paramedic premium!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintains the Erickson Senior Living Mission, Vision and Values. Conducts themselves in accordance with the Erickson Senior Living Code of Conduct. Assumes overall responsibility for the safety, security, and well-being of the community. Maintains a visible preventative presence and patrols the community in accordance with established procedures. Enforces all traffic and parking regulations. Conducts safety inspections and testing in support of Life Safety and OSHA compliance. Identifies safety/security risks and responds accordingly. Conducts investigations, documents and preserves evidence as required. Operates company vehicles safely and in accordance with established policies and applicable laws. Inventories and stocks supplies and inspects equipment to ensure cleanliness and operational readiness;

Promptly documents and reports damage, deficiencies, safety issues, or other problems.

Responds to incidents and emergencies promptly and escalates accordingly. Provides basic medical treatment to sick and injured persons in accordance with the EMR scope of practice, ESL Emergency Responder Protocols and the ESL Integrated Healthcare Model. Communicates effectively with EHMG Providers regarding the care of residents. Complies with regulations in handling the deceased, notifies authorities, arranges for protection of property and preserves evidence. Completes incident reports and required documentation for all incidents. Participates in QA/QI activities for improved patient care and resident satisfaction. Attends company meetings and educational sessions. Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and development. Maintains a professional, pleasant, and polite demeanor at all times while on duty. Practices the person-centered approach (PCA) at all times while on duty. Practices positive resident relations; responds to resident and family inquiries, concerns or problems. Reports any reasonable suspicion of crime as required by the Federal Elder Justice Act (42 U.S.C.A.) Maintains compliance with all provisions of the Employee Handbook, Policies and Procedures, as well as all other company rules, regulations, directives, or instructions from supervisors. Maintains strict confidentiality regarding all information pertaining to protected health information or any other sensitive or confidential information obtained while employed by or pertaining to the company, its employees, business information, or residents. Performs additional duties as assigned to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the Community.

Supervisory responsibilities (in the absence of the SES Supervisor):

  • Assists in training, coaching, and counseling of employees

  • Establishes schedules, reviews and approves timesheets, completes performance evaluations

  • Provides daily leadership, supervision, motivation, and communication to direct & indirect reports

  • Monitors the team throughout the day and reinforces safety practices

  • Utilizes the emergency mass notification system to send out pre-scripted messages and/or directs the SES Dispatcher to perform this function

  • Makes notifications to leadership regarding significant emergencies in accordance with the Critical Issues Communication Plan; updates emergency notification systems, as needed

  • During non-business hours serves as the incident commander for significant events until relieved by a higher authority. Serves as the liaison officer to external first responders

  • Verifies completion and submission of incident reports; reviews and approves within the required timeframe

  • Enforces accountability to the GS Operations Manual and all applicable polices and SOPs

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.

  • Internal candidate - at least 1 year of experience as a SES Officer 2 (EMR) or SES Officer 3 (Lead) in good standing.

  • External candidate - at least 1 year of experience in public safety supervisory (Fire/EMS/Law Enforcement) or comparable supervisory experience

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In the absence of the SES Supervisor: SES Gatehouse Officer, SES Officer 1, 2, and 3, and SES Dispatcher

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Must be able to read, write, understand and communicate in the English language.

REQUIRED LICENSES and CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Current and valid driver's license

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification¹, ²

  • Emergency Medical Responder certification², ³

  • Non-Commissioned Security Officer Level II within 30 days of hire (Texas Only)

¹Must be issued by a qualified agency or institution that follows AHA guidelines and includes a hands-on skills assessment. Online only certifications are not acceptable.

²Prefrered at the time of hire but at minimum required within 30 days of hire.

³External licensure is not a substitute for this requirement. New hires who hold external licensure at any level must obtain this certification through our internal exam challenge process.

OSHA Occupational Exposure Category:

This position has been designated as an OSHA Occupational Exposure Category I and requires some or all of the following protective equipment worn by anyone filling this position: gloves, surgical masks, N95 masks¹, goggles, or gowns. Training will be provided on how to properly and effectively use the equipment listed above, in addition to education regarding precautionary measures, epidemiology, and modes of transmission and prevention of bloodborne pathogen exposure.

¹Requires the incumbent to obtain medical clearance for fit testing and be fit tested initially and annually thereafter in accordance with OSHA 1910.134.
