Location: Multiple Exclusive US Assignments

TotalMed is seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RN) specializing in Emergency Rooms (ER). These assignments are typically 13 week travel assignments with both day and night shifts available.

Responsibilities:

  • Triage incoming patients based on level of injury or illness

  • Immediately stabilize incoming patients

  • Administer medication as instructed by physicians

  • Start intravenous lines, and set broken bones

  • Perform tracheotomies and intubations

  • Give patients stitches and sutures

  • Create and maintain incoming patient records

  • Work with team of emergency staff to help patients

  • Help transfer stable patients to other wings

Position Requirements:

  • State or Compact RN Licensure

  • Emergency Department experience required

  • Minimum 3-years' experience

Position Summary This position is responsible for coordinating the total nursing care of assigned patients including assessment, planning, implementation, and documentation. The RN is responsible for delegating to and supervising the job classes of: student nurse, Nurse Tech II, Phlebotomists, ER Techs, and unit secretary. The RN assists in the orientation of new staff and clinical supervision of nursing students. The RN assists in achieving patient quality of care, national patient safety, regulatory agency, and budgetary goals. This position has exposure to body fluids, radiation and communicable disease. The majority of work time is spent standing and/or walking of short distances, with frequent pushing, pulling, and lifting of up to 100 lbs., as well as occasional carrying of up to 25 lbs. A culturally and linguistically diverse patient population is served including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics, with the majority being adults and geriatrics. Licenses/Certifications Required Arkansas RN license or licensed in a state that has enacted the RN/LPN NLC, and CPR. Specific Educational and Skill Competencies Required Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program and licensed to work in the state of Arkansas or licensed in a state that has enacted the RN/LPN NLC. This position also requires the completion of basic dysrhythmia*, as well as certification in ACLS* and must be maintained once initial class is completed.
