We are seekinga Emergency Room (ER) Nurses for an available contract opportunity at the Fort Belknap Service Unit, Harlem, Montana
Available Position: Emergency Room Nurse for the ER Department at the Fort Belknap Service Unit, PHS Indian Hospital, Harlem, Montana
Work to be performed at:Fort Belknap Service Unit, PHS Indian Health Center, Harlem, Montana.
Tour of Duty: 40 hours per week, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays.
Scope of Work:
Performs specialized, professional nursing duties in the case of critically ill, severely injured and/or traumatized emergency patients. Assesses all patients presenting for emergency care and triages based on history, physical assessments and chief complaint.
Initiates treatments, medications, emergency and resuscitative measures based on appropriate utilization of standing orders and ACLS and ATLS Protocols. Administers therapeutic measures prescribed by the physician such as medications, treatments, intravenous fluids, blood transfusions, nasogastric tubes, etc.
Records observations nursing interventions, therapeutic measure, hemodynamic monitoring data, and other relevant measures to the patients care. Continually monitors and assesses patients clinical condition and recognizes, identifies and interprets serious situations and immediately decides and initiates proper intervention independently.
Notifies the physician when appropriate. In emergency situations, when a physician is most immediatelyavailable, initiates appropriate actions or procedures. Participates fully in nursing quality assurance activities and established TJC criteria for emergency care.
Administers medications utilized in the emergency/outpatient setting and observes patients for adverse and expected effects and responds appropriately independently. Notifies the physician when appropriate.
Interprets data obtained from observation, examination, and monitoring and LAB values. Discriminates between normal and abnormal findings, and provides appropriate care measure. Collaborates with members of the multidisciplinary care conferences. Provides nursing care to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, and sociocultural needs of the critically ill patient and family.
Operates and monitors specialized equipment such as cardiac monitors, volume respirators, EKG machines, gastric and thoracic suction, cardiac pace makers, hypothermia devices, peritoneal dialysis, defibrillators, etc.
Provides supervision and training to the ambulance service and assists with certification requirements. Participates in run services on the course committee. Acts as resource person to ambulance personnel on request. Acts on medical direction when necessary.

Education and Experience
Must have a Registered Nurse Licensein the state of Montana.
A valid State Driver License Is required and must be maintained.
Must have at least one year of ER experience.
Must have BLS, ACLS and PALScertification.
