Manage emergency response projects and the investigation and cleanup of other contaminated properties in Minnesota and surrounding states. Work load will be approximately 70% emergency response / 30% investigation and cleanup. Occasional travel (up to 20%) with some overnight stays may be required to perform and supervise field activities.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:* Lead/manage/schedule teams of environmental technicians who respond to hazardous and non-hazardous material releases to air, soil and water. * Support the on-call program by serving as a Lead on-call for a team of responders for a one-week period once every five weeks. During the on-call week, must be ready to respond at any time of day if called. * Provide technical and managerial support to the on-call program. * Set up contracts, prepare proposals and project reports. * Write project-specific health and safety plans. * Be the primary point of contact for clients. * Prepare detailed instructions for field staff and mid-level professionals and direct their project work. * Prepare and/or review project deliverables including proposals, work plans, project reports, bidding specifications and other correspondence using technical writing and analytical skills. * Collaboratively work and coordinate with other staff to problem solve and produce high quality creative solutions for our clients. * Review draft invoices and timesheets, prepare final invoices and appropriately manage profitability of projects. * Foster safety, staff development, authenticity, and accountability within the Bay West team to continue to advance Bay West as a "best place to work".Business Development * Deliver on promises to clients and regulators. * Understand and proficiently describe Bay West's service lines to others. * Become a known and respected entity with clients/regulators.Field Work * Conduct safety audits and site inspections to help support staff maintain high level of safety.     VIEW JOBS 10/13/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-01-11T00:00 Working with the Spill Response Team, this position offers good variety of work and will see you involved in: * Conducting field work including; groundwater/soil sampling, water level monitoring, investigative drilling, monitoring well installation, soil and groundwater remediation (excavation, in-situ, etc.), contractor oversight, air monitoring, stream and river rehabilitation, site restoration, and construction inspections for both emergency spill response and long-term environmental investigation and remediation projects. * Conduct industrial hygiene work as part of a team supported by Senior CIHs including; employee exposure assessments, quantitative and qualitative risk assessments, report drafting and submittal. * Assisting with the preparation of technical reports including environmental investigation and closure reports, remedial alternative/design/action plans, design project specifications, bid documents, regulatory submissions, and emergency response plans * Assisting Project Managers with preparing proposals, work plans, cost estimates, memorandums, letters, tables, figures, presentations, etc. * Performing data compilation, interpretation, and evaluation of environmental regulations for the preparation of reports * Assisting Project Managers with coordination of field activities including coordinating field personnel, analytical laboratory project set up, and procuring subcontractors and equipment * Assist with coordination of internal GHD technical resources and support staff including drafting, database, chemists, and other personnel. * Reviewing, understanding, and interpretation of state and federal acts and regulations. * Assisting with business development efforts. * Frequent, last minute travel to sites throughout the Midwest region. What you will bring to the team: * Bachelor's degree in Biology, Industrial Hygiene, Geology, Environmental Engineering or other relevant programs * 0-2 years of environmental or industrial hygiene experience, internships or full-time experience working in the consulting field would be considered an asset * Experience conducting fieldwork is preferred and willingness to travel to undertake fieldwork is required. Field demands can include working extended hours, working in inclement weather conditions, and heavy lifting (a 70/30 field to office ratio is expected initially, the percent of field work would decrease over-time as the successful candidate gains experience) * Flexible availability to assist with emergency spill response work (including weekends and nights) for clients when required (Note: emergency response services in this group are carried out as a team, the successful candidate would not be required to respond to every emergency event) * Excellent organizational and time management skills to be able to meet deadlines * Experience managing multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail in a consulting environment is considered an asset * Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively express technical information to multiple audiences including subcontractors, field staff, clients, colleagues, etc. * Must be proficient with Microsoft Office * Motivated self-starter with the ability to work effectively in both and individual and team environment * Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle Our commitment to you Fostering gender balance, diversity and acceptance of flexible working is central to the way GHD does business.
