Job Title: Emergency Mental Health Clinician

Department: Behavioral Health Services

Weekends: Minimum Two Per Month

Hours-3 pm- 11:30 pm- 8 hour shifts

Emergency Mental Health Clinician Job Summary:

Provides direct services to psychiatric patients (5 - 105) in an emergency room setting, including evaluation, counseling, education, and referral to appropriate aftercare.

Emergency Mental Health Clinician Essential Responsibilities:

• Serves as liaison with other service providers or community supports for the continuous improvement of services to patients.

• Maintains patient charts appropriately, including documentation of evaluations, interventions, and treatment recommendations.

• Assists patients and families in dealing with: acute psychiatric symptoms, assessing needed clinical interventions, encouraging use of and compliance with medication.

• Demonstrates ability to provide supportive and directive counseling to patients experiencing behavioral health problems, including those in acute distress.

• Meets in-service, continuing education and supervision requirements for the Behavioral Health Services Department.

Emergency Mental Health Clinician Education Qualifications:

• Master's degree (MSW, MS, MA) or doctorate (Ph.D., Psy.D.) in Psychology or a related field required.

• Licensure in the state of Connecticut as either: Professional Counselor (LPC), Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Psychologist, or Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) strongly preferred.

Emergency Mental Health Clinician Experience Qualifications:

• 2 - 3 years of experience in a psychiatric setting preferred.
