Hennepin Healthcare has opportunities available for Physician Assistants to obtain additional education in our Emergency Medicine Postgraduate Training Program. These PA's will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with diseases and adverse health conditions following the written guidelines approved by the department according to the specialty.
This is an intensive, 13-month program providing didactic and clinical training in emergency medicine to prepare the graduate to start a career with the skills they need to be a competent emergency medicine physician assistant. In the ED, Postgraduate PA's will practice alongside established APP's and physician residents under the supervision of our emergency medicine faculty physicians. They will participate in off-service rotations to gain specialty experience pertinent to emergency medicine where they will practice under the supervision of APP's, physician residents, and faculty physicians. They will participate in monthly hands-on skills sessions in the simulation center as well as simulation case scenarios. By the end of the program, they will have also obtained the following certifications: ACLS, PALS, and ATLS.
After completing the 13-month program, trainees will receive a certificate of completion and may work at Hennepin Healthcare, if an opening exists at the time.
