LOCATION OF POSITION: Monroe One BOCES - 41 O'Connor Road, Fairport, NY 14450; Eastern Monroe Career Center - Perinton Ambulance Base

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10-Month Position, Full-Time; Probationary

STARTING DATE: September 2024

SALARY RANGE: $48,000 - $78,401 per school year

  • Actual Salary Is Dependent Upon Education, Experience and Contract.

DUTIES:

  • Provide instruction for high school students preparing for careers in the field of Emergency Services and Firefighting.

  • Individualize the program to meet the needs of students.

  • Maintain appropriate records and student progress reports.

  • Supervise assistant lab instructors

  • Maintain and update curriculum, including course descriptions, course syllabi and methods of course delivery (including online) that meet the requirements of the student, college (MCC), Medical Director, New York State Department of Health (NYS DOH), and any accrediting bodies rules and regulations

  • Develop and implement student assessment strategies

  • Complete required end of course paperwork for NYS DOH and MCC EMS administrative staff records and Monroe Community College associated dual enrollment courses.

  • Possess and keep current the following certifications:

  • NYS Certified Instructor Coordinator (CIC)

  • EMT - Basic

  • Keep informed of changes, advances, and problems in the pre-hospital emergency care discipline

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • NYS Teacher Certification or willingness to obtain

  • Current NYS Department of Health certification as an EMT (or higher level)

  • Appropriate medical or allied health education, training, and experience

  • Certified or eligible by the New York State Department of Health, as an Emergency Medical Services Certified Instructor Coordinator (CIC)

  • Experience teaching pre-hospital emergency medical care

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the current National EMS Scope of Practice and National EMS Education Standards

  • Associate's degree in Emergency Medical Services, Fire Protection Technology, Education, Health Science, Public Safety or related field from a regionally accredited higher education institution or higher

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching or knowledge of fire behavior and combustion

  • Current American Heart Association as a BLS Instructor

  • Bachelor Degree in Emergency Management or Fire Sciences from a regionally accredited higher education institution or higher

  • Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation).
