This position serves as the Emergency Management Specialist/Assistant Emergency Manager for the Rocky Mountain Regional Medical Center, Department of Veterans Affairs, and performs a variety of emergency management duties. The incumbent works under the guidance and will assist the Medical Center Emergency Preparedness Coordinator (EPC) in performing well-defined tasks in various aspects of the management and maintenance of the Medical Center's Comprehensive Emergency Management Program (CEMP).

The incumbent will provide specialist support for the Emergency Management Program, the Emergency Operations Center, the Emergency Preparedness Program, the All-Hazards Team, the Decontamination Team, the Cascade Callback System the VHA Office of Emergency Management (OEM ), VA Internal Emergency Response Cache, and the National Disaster Medical System, Federal Coordination Center. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assists in the development and implementation of mitigation, preparedness, and response and recovery strategies in support of the facility's CEMP
Assists with the development, execution, and coordination of all contingency plans
Provides assistance in the development and implementation of a comprehensive education, training, and exercise program.
Serves as a secondary point-of-contact for all aspects of emergency operations activities
Assists the facility Emergency Preparedness Coordinator in coordinating all related activities of the facilities Emergency Management Committee (EMC)
Develops and accomplishes an effective working relationship and program interface with local, state, federal, and national agencies to ensure a comprehensive emergency management planning and response program
Assists the facility Emergency Preparedness Coordinator in evaluating and reviewing the facility's CEMP requirements for the development, implementation, and monitoring of an annual operating budget
