Responsibilities The Department of Radiology at Mayo Clinic Arizona (Phoenix) is seeking two highly qualified radiologists to join the Emergency & Hospital Radiology (EHR) Division to provide overnight teleradiology coverage providing final interpretation of inpatient and Emergency Department (ED) examinations, comprised predominately of radiography and CT, but inclusive of MR and US exams. While not a Level 1 trauma center, our ED sees all forms of acute and urgent clinical disease presentation and caters to our advanced subspecialty hospital practice with extensive oncological and organ transplant emphasis. Additionally, Mayo Clinic Arizona is a DNV-accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center.

The schedule will follow a 7 days on and 14 days off cadence (121 shifts/year, 0.8 FTE). Overnight shifts are 10-hours in length Monday-Sunday. The full complement of Mayo Clinic benefits, commensurate with FTE designation, are provided. Qualified candidates may staff these shifts remotely in any of the continental United States.

To promote engagement with the department and hospital and assist in advancement in the educational and research goals of the EHR division, additional onsite weekday daytime coverage in division(s) most aligned with the candidate’s training/experience is strongly encouraged. This coverage may be provided at aliquots of 20- or 40-shifts/year (0.1 or 0.2 FTE, respectively) with a travel stipend provided. The ideal candidate will have strong general radiology skills and fellowship level training in either body imaging or emergency radiology, although other relevant fellowships, such as thoracic or musculoskeletal, as well as those with equivalent experience will be considered.

Although neuroradiology subspecialty coverage is available for consultation, experience and proficiency with typical ED/Inpatient Stat CT/MR neurological imaging is required. The candidate will be expected to be fully engaged in the education of residents and fellows as they will be responsible for over-reading and providing instructive feedback to residents or fellows performing on call overnight shifts (typically one trainee per shift) as well as participating in EHR’s resident lecture curriculum. The Department consists of 60 radiologists, five physicists, 18 residents and six fellows with an approved current training program expansion towards 36 residents and seven fellows over the next few years.

As part of the “Arizona. Bold. Forward.” strategic plan, a capital investment project of $750 million dollars has recently doubled the size of the Phoenix campus, with the inpatient bed capacity increased by approximately 30% to 415 beds and significant increases in the ED and observational units. Qualifications Candidates with a full year fellowship in body or emergency imaging are favored.

However, those with fellowships in other typical ED caseload, such as thoracic or musculoskeletal imaging, or non-fellowship-trained with exceptional emergency radiology experience will be considered. Candidates must be board-eligible or board-certified through ABR. Candidates will require licenses to practice medicine from AZ and their respective state of residence (usual and customary expenses will be reimbursed).
