POSITION SUMMARY

The Emergency Department Technician, Advanced, performs under the direction of the Registered Nurse and is responsible for providing quality patient care which utilizes knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, is appropriate to the age of the patients served, is family-centered and based on the philosophy of Bon Secours Health System.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
1.High school diploma or equivalent.
2.Current EMT-Paramedic Certification or EMT-I with ACLS.
3.Must possess and maintain a current BCLS Certification and ACLS Certification (must have ACLS certification within 90 days of hire)
4.Proficient in phlebotomy
5.Experience with the use of computers and nursing equipment required
6.3+ years of healthcare experience strongly preferred.

The Patient Care Technician administers patient care and related activities, services and/or procedures to promote the physical and emotional health and personal comfort needs of assigned patients. * Responsible for the daily hygiene, ambulation, and turning of patients. Assists with the delivery of food trays and assists with patient feeding as needed. * Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate, utilizing computerized documentation systems. * Maintains confidentiality of patient, employee, and department information. * Provides encouragement, support, and comfort to patients and family members. * Communicates effectively and professionally with staff, supervisors, ancillary departments, and other customers. * Assists in maintaining a neat and orderly unit, including: equipment, linen, patient rooms, kitchen and utility rooms. * Performs these functions in accordance with state Nursing Practice Acts and generic/unit structure standards. EDUCATION: * High School Graduate or GED (required) * Successful completion of a nursing assistant training program or if currently enrolled in Nursing school, completion of Nursing Fundamentals course (required) LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: * Licensure by the Virginia Board of Nursing as a Nursing Assistant, required if not currently enrolled in a Professional Nursing Program * American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider (required) EXPERIENCE: * Previous healthcare experience (preferred) * Basic computer knowledge and medical terminology (preferred) * Strong communication skills (oral and written) HOURS: * PRN * Weekend & Holiday Requirements We are an equal opportunity employer and we value diversity at our company.
