Job Summary

Under supervision of the RN, provides patient care in accordance with treatment plans. Participates in patient care activities.

Performs tasks as delegated by the RN and other licensed members of the healthcare team. Communicates changes in patient conditions within the scope of practice.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED certificate. State of Colorado-issued certificate for Emergency Medical Technician with Intravenous Authorization (EMT-IV), Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT), Emergency Medical Technician- Intermediate (EMT-I), or Paramedic; or Colorado State Board of Nursing-issued Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with IV Authority.

Experience: Typically, one-year health care experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of Emergency Department practices.

Knowledge of and the ability to use medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skill in maintaining records and recording test results.

Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, employees, physicians and the public. Ability to maintain quality control standards. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to communicate clearly.

Certificate/License/Registration: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) healthcare provider card.

State of Colorado-issued Emergency Medical Technician with Intravenous Authorization (EMT-IV), Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT), Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediate (EMT-I), or Paramedic; or Colorado State Board of Nursing-issued Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with IV Authority. All Certifications and Licenses required for this job must be kept current as a condition of continued employment.

Our hospital and emergency room treat patients from all over the Rocky Mountain region. We offer a range of services, including pediatric, high risk pregnancy, heart care and weight loss solutions. Our full-service facility also offers a Cancer Center distinguished by the Commission on Cancer as a Center of Excellence, with the largest Bone Marrow Transplant Center in the Rocky Mountain region. P/SL holds centers of excellence designations in neonatal intensive care, spine and joint care and bariatric surgery as well as stroke certification and level IV trauma. Position Summary: This position supports the mission of Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center and Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children of optimizing the quality of life for all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person. The Adult Clinical Nurse Coordinator will be responsible for developing adult specific policies and competencies in conjunction with the department director. The ACNC will be responsible for implementation of standards of care, staff orientation and annual competencies within the adult department. Develop and implements adult specific goals to include: program development, quality improvement and patient safety initiatives. Demonstrates advanced knowledge and skills in the care of adult patients, as well as in the training and development of staff. Participates on hospital committees; coordinates unit-specific meetings as directed by the Emergency Department Director. Promotes optimal patient outcomes through organizing, coordinating and monitoring patient care provided in the unit. Delegated duties consistent with scope of practice, staff competencies, patient needs, department and facility needs. Provides patient care utilizing the nursing process – assessment, care planning, implementation and reassessment – for identified patient population per the Colorado Nurse Practice Act. Documents patient care administered per hospital policy. Coordinates interdisciplinary communication and care within the unit and hospital.
