The ED Patient Access and Coordinator is responsible for greeting patients in the Emergency Department, placing them in rooms, answering the Emergency Department and hospital main telephone lines, assembling patient charts, facilitating patient discharges and transfers, and performing registration duties. This position requires exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills. The Admissions Representative will communicate in a compassionate and professional manner with patients and other hospital staff.
Education: Experience or training in healthcare office setting and customer relations. Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Requires ability to work cooperatively with other employees, other departments and the public. Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines is required. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and concentrate in a busy environment is required. Ability to use common computer system and business software is necessary.
Skills & Responsibilities:
Answering the telephone line at the nurses station and after hours for answering the main hospital telephone line
Read and validate provider orders and clinical documentation
Create temporary registations for patients by completing an after hours admissions form
Accurately complete and explain all required forms to patients
Input Emergency Department charges accurately
Perform the daily census check to ensure all patient statuses and room assignments are correct
Facilitates discharges and transfers into and out of GVH - arranging transportation, preparing medical records, and communicating with other facilities.

Compensation: $19.10 - $22.91/hr, depending on experience.

Work Environment
As a health care organization, we operate 24/7, 365 days per year. Candidates should be available to work a variety of shifts (days shift and night shift), weekends, and holidays. This position is full-time, with 12 hour shifts. This position can be fast paced at times, and slow paced at times, and candidates should be able to perform in both scenarios.
