Emergency Department Nurse Development Coordinator

The Nursing Staff Development Coordinator works assigned shifts with potential to include weekends. This position will provide direct patient care in addition to conducting unit-based educational programs/classes, provide on-boarding support for newly hired licensed and unlicensed staff working in patient care areas, documentation review, mentorship, coaching, follow up, and other unit needs. The Nursing Staff Development Coordinator maintains collaborative relationships with staff and the nursing leadership team for assigned departments.
Position Summary
The Nursing Staff Development Coordinator serves as consultant/resource specialist for pathology and emergency nursing care; assists with education and learning activities designed to assist nursing personnel to acquire knowledge, skills, and attitudes to meet job requirements. This role incorporates knowledge and skills related to clinical nursing theory and evidenced based practice, leadership, adult learning principles and educational standards and regulatory requirements. Serves as the unit based clinical resource for assigned areas.
Minimum Qualifications
For Hire: Bachelors degree in Nursing, current Ohio nursing licensure or interim permit, previous experience in an acute care setting, progressive experience in leadership and education
Ongoing: Demonstrated competency in meeting essential job functions. Maintains knowledge related to patient care issues, quality improvement and cost reduction, current policies, procedures.

Physical/Visual/Mental Requirements
Ability to move objects weighing up to 30 lbs around the work environment
Ability to transport/move patients and equipment using stairs particularly in emergency situations
Ability to set up/adjust the various patient equipment items in use at the Medical Center
Ability to communicate clearly
Demonstrates ability to work with Microsoft applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
Work Environment
The work environment involves risks and discomforts which require special safety precautions, additional safety education and/or health risk monitoring e.g. chemicals, radiation, working with sharps, infectious disease. Employees may be required to wear protective clothing such as masks, gowns, gloves etc. when providing or simulating direct patient care activities.
