Job Summary

The ED Clinical Pharmacist will be responsible for:

  • Providing Pharmacy support to Emergency Physicians, ER Registered Nurses, ER Advanced Practice Providers, and other support staff.

  • Assisting with and provide expertise in code and other emergent patient care situations. Other duties include:

  • comprehensive review of prescribed drug orders for accuracy, quality assurance, appropriateness of treatment, cost saving/avoidance, and providing recommendations in drug therapy as clinically indicated, reviewing and signing off on

  • Completing medication histories, routine review of blood and urine cultures to ensure appropriate provision of pharmaceutical treatment for patients discharged from the hospital,

  • Provision of education to other pharmacy staff members, nursing team members, and physician and provider team members.

  • Assisting in the precepting of pharmacy students and residents.

  • Assessing opatients including development, evaluation, and modification of the plan of care.

  • interprets and performs complex patient care procedures that are specific to their area of expertise.

  • In the absence of the Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator, the Clinical Pharmacist will assume the Coordinator's duties.

Patients served include infant, child and adolescent, adult and geriatric.

What You Need to Be Successful:

  • Graduate from accredited school of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree required.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy and clinical experience (residency) are acceptable in lieu of PharmD.

  • Current Maryland License or eligible for licensure in the State of Maryland required.

  • One two years as Clinical Pharmacist in institutional setting preferred.

The Per Diem Clinical Pharmacist will be responsible for direct patient care in a variety of settings, including medical-surgical, ICU, telemetry, and emergency department. * Providing Pharmacy support to Physicians, Registered Nurses, Advanced Practice Providers, and other support staff. * Assist with and provide expertise during multi-disciplinary bedside rounds. * Clinical patient assessment to including development, evaluation, and modification of the plan of care, as well as interpretation of and performance of complex patient care procedures that are specific to their area of expertise. * Respond to code and other emergent patient care situations. * Provision of education to other pharmacy staff members, nursing team members, and physician and provider team members. * Assisting in the precepting of pharmacy students and residents. * In the absence of the Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator, the Clinical Pharmacist will assume the Coordinator's duties.
