Embedded Systems @ May

May Mobility is seeking passionate applicants to join its Embedded Co-Op program. Be a part of the team that is designing and building the framework for our driverless vehicles. From writing firmware to designing electrical circuits, this team has the opportunity to impact every system on the vehicle.

Required Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Bachelors, Masters, PhD on a technical degree track (Engineering, Physics, Math, etc.)

  • Systems engineering exposure

  • Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate across functional teams

  • Experience with agile software development process

  • Independent problem-solving ability

  • PCB design/circuit analysis

  • Hands on experience testing electrical/mechanical systems.

  • Experience with CAN, Serial, or Ethernet communication protocols

  • Electrical schematics and harness building

Ideal Qualifications

  • C/C++ coding experience

  • Embedded software or Linux / UNIX software application development using C

  • Coding and/or scripting experience in high level languages (e.g. Python, Bash)

In this cross functional role, you will participate in product development and transfer activities for complex system and instruments. You will be responsible for development, integration and maintenance of software and firmware used in new and legacy product designs. Responsibilities * Use best software development practices to design and develop reliable and maintainable firmware for embedded systems used in commercial products and in-house diagnostic tools. * Develop firmware requirements, architectures, and detailed designs, perform software configuration management, and build and release source code. * Implement embedded firmware solutions and algorithms to enable electromechanical system operations including feedback control and hardware and software interface communications. * Develop and execute unit, integration, and system testing, investigate and resolve issues, and perform debugging. * Collaborate on designs and participate in cross-functional teams to support product development and troubleshooting. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, electrical engineering, or related discipline. * 3+ years' experience designing embedded system firmware for commercialized products. * Strong coding skills in C/C++. Preferred Qualifications: * Experience using Python a plus. * Experience with real-time operating systems and an understanding of real-time issues. * System level integration experience. * Experience in writing unit and system level test software. * Board bring up experience. * Exposure to a variety of actuators and sensors and ability to assimilate corresponding datasheets. * Experience with circuit design a plus. * Experience with Jira or other project management and bug tracking software. * Familiarity with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, current probes, and other lab equipment and tools.
