Position Summary

As an Embedded Software Project Engineer for a world leading industrial automation company, you will be responsible for developing, enhancing and maintaining architectural designs that will be reused across product developments. The responsibilities for this role will focus on assuring that the embedded software designs and their associated hardware components will meet the requirements for the industrial automation market with emphasis on easily maintainable functional safety designs and compliant design processes. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with and influencing cross functional teams across multiple locations, as well as providing local technical leadership and mentoring to other product developers and various technology adopters in other businesses.

Essential Functions:

Participates in and drives collaboration on project objectives and requirements. Contributes to or leads architectural design concepts with focus toward hierarchical and modular design to facilitate ease of reuse, product maintenance, and product enhancements.

Develops and documents code according to internal development processes, and functional safety standards (e.g. IEC 61508) or other high quality and repeatable design principles,

Leads the creation and verification review of common design documents including functional requirements, high level and detailed design specifications, test plans, test cases and reports

Collaborating with hardware and other embedded software engineers in performing hardware architecture and design reviews to verify product and functional safety requirements are met.

Provides leadership in estimating and contributes significantly to the development and execution of project plans to deliver high quality embedded software

Drives and contributes to embedded software development capability improvement including the adoption of new development tools and practices

Basic Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications :

BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.

Minimum of 8 years experience in development of embedded software systems with a good working knowledge of hardware designs.

Experience with embedded software development tools and C++ programming language.

Minimum of 5 years experience in the application of functional safety standards and principles for electrical, electronic and programmable electronic safety related systems. (IEC 61508)

Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

Desired Qualifications:

Functional Safety Certification from TUV, UL or other recognized body.

Experience with Agile development methods.

Experience with Python or other scripting languages.

Experience with CMMI, Design for Six Sigma, or other mature quality management principles for embedded software development.

Experience with Common Industrial Protocol (CIP) and CIP Safety.

Experience in applying security constructs to a protocol or product and cryptographic concepts in general.
