The Boeing Company is looking for a Software Engineer that is located in St. Louis, Mo.

The F-18 program is seeking engineers to staff emerging needs in the areas of Mission System software engineering. This team will be responsible to develop mission system software applications from requirements through the delivery to the external customer.

In this role, you will be part of a multi-disciplined team of engineers that take pride in developing, integrating, testing and delivering innovative solutions to a variety of challenging customer needs. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Software development, modeling, simulation, testing, and/or analysis using C, C++, C#, Python, Java, MatLab, VxWorks, Windows, or Linux

  • Working with customers and other engineers to define requirements, such as understanding and agreeing upon the function of software Assists with the development, documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems

  • Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system

  • Assists with test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met

  • Supports software project management and software supplier management functions. Selects, tailors and deploys processes and tools; establishes metrics

  • Performs software research and trade studies. Troubleshoots software issues. Works under general supervision

  • As a Software Engineer you will work with a team in a casual but professional environment where there is long-term potential for career growth into technical leadership or management positions

Security Clearance and Export Control

Requirements:

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain US Security clearance (post-start)

  • Prior experience developing software in C++

  • Experience working in an Agile Software Development environment

  • Experience in Software Architecture/Development

  • Real-time embedded software development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing on the Linux platform, VxWorks, Window

  • Experience with C, C++, C#, Python, openGL, .net, Java, MatLab, or Linux

  • Experience with real-time embedded software development

  • Experience working with and/or developing software requirements/test methodology

  • Prior working knowledge or experience with Service Oriented Architecture

Typical Education/Experience:

  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master)
  • In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation

This position primarily consists of performing software development work utilizing and developing virtual machine technologies. Additional tasks may include test environment or test station software development work requiring real-time embedded software programming and model development. This position requires a self-starter who can work in an environment where the engineer is expected to derive requirements and determine the best path forward even when working from an incomplete work scope. An ability to handle a variety of tasks, to research, assist, and to work efficiently in a dynamic environment is also required. In addition to software development, experience with computer architecture, basic hardware, electronics, and systems knowledge is required. Some of the specific tasks include: Development of virtual machines and virtual input/output devices. Development of test environment software used for controlling real-time operation of a lab test stations.
