Job Description:

The individual will work in the Software Engineering (SWE) Department and will provide program level Software Support. Involved in the entire software life cycle, including software design, coding, integration, debugging, and full documentation.

  • Provide engineering and engineering support as an individual contributor to the Space Systems Division's engineering business unit under technical direction. Requires a broad general knowledge of engineering principles, theories and techniques.

  • Provide engineering and engineering support, research, evaluation and development for highly complex and technical space-based aerospace products. Use the application of engineering standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques.

  • Design, develop, test and verify complex engineering tasks in software, systems, and/or hardware components. Encompass a wide range of sophisticated (cross-discipline) engineering problem resolutions. Involve in design and development engineering assignments related to products and systems including the engineering of new products or updates to existing products.

  • Ability to analyze telemetry data for the navigation payload

  • Maintain Life Histories of the L3Harris Equipment

  • Anomaly Resolution team member

  • Systems/Software Analyst for GPS III

  • Ability to work in USAF/Lockheed Martin/Aerospace environment and on teams

  • Ability to create and maintain strong rapport with the LM customer and personnel at Schriever Air Force Base

  • Lead a team of SW Engineers in a variety of development, pre-production, production and sustainment programs

  • Engineering capabilities and for technical leadership of the Division, including technical presentations with internal and external customers

  • Support pursuits and proposals in the business, including review/approval of technical proposals and Basis of Estimates (BOEs) as needed.

  • Lead/Support Technical Tiger Teams for Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) assessment on programs where applicable.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical discipline with 6+ years of related software experience (or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering of a related technical discipline with 4+ years of related software experience)
  • 6+ years' experience in software development using C/C++, scripting language, RTOS
  • 6+ years' experience with software design using UML and OOA/OOD (Object Oriented Analysis/Object Oriented Design)
  • 6+ years' experience with Crypto Keys and Government ICDs:
  • IS-GPS-200 (GPS Space Segment / Navigation User Interface
  • ICD-GPS-401 (Space Vehicle (Block IIR) / Control Segment Interface)
  • ICD-GPS-601 (GPS Block IIF Space to Control Segment Interface)
  • ICD-GPS-700 (GPS Military-Unique Space Segment / User Segment Interface)
  • ICD-GPS-801 (GPS III Control Segment / Space Segment Interface)
  • Experience with RTOS such as Green Hills

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Active Secret Clearance

  • Knowledge of model-based development

  • Complete SW development Cycle experience

  • Knowledge of SWCM such as GIT, ClearCase

  • Knowledge of UML Modeling Tools

  • Knowledge of requirement tools such as DOORs

  • Demonstrate ability to work well with team members from different disciplines

  • Embedded Software experience with ADA/ADA runtime

The Controls Engineer - Software is responsible for the successful overall software design of projects, database creation, as well the implementation of the Engineering department procedures and standards used in the programming and documentation of controls projects. Specific responsibilities for this position include: * Read and understand project specifications and MEP drawing sets * Utilize company or customer standard programs for designing the graphic function blocks for assigned projects * Tests the project's programs to ensure they meet the specified sequences of operation and that they perform according to industry standards Inspect HVAC system including point-to-point, determining the proper operating ranges for field devices, as well as complete functional system checkouts * Create project database utilizing company and customer standards * Conduct graphics engineering functions which includes: creating equipment and floor plan graphics per project documents, create ALC graphics submittal packages as required, review graphics as a completed package, for completeness and accuracy, develop and maintain graphic library, and participate in solution of job-related graphic problems * Coordinate and participate in system specialist hand-off meetings for the turnover of complex software projects.
