Test and measurement systems are at the forefront of technology breakthroughs whether the next scientific discovery or the next big consumer product. The instrumentation market group is seeking an experienced embedded systems engineer to join our system applications team tasked to help customers adopt and deploy Analog Devices solutions for the test and measurement (T&M) market.

A successful candidate will be able to implement solutions where the combination of hardware, software and measurement domain expertise provide added value for our customers. This position requires familiarity with FPGAs, microcontrollers, microprocessors, embedded systems, digital signal processing and board level analog circuit design for test and measurement platforms.

A embedded systems engineer in this role works closely with a cross-functional team of design, marketing, and applications engineers in order to enable ADI's strategy for T&M systems, identify the best system-level solutions, derive specifications for future devices, and contribute in the decision making process. In addition, an embedded systems engineer acts as a liaison between this market segment and other the product teams working on similar projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Translate customer's requirements into actionable plans and suggest appropriate system partitioning

  • Design, build, validate, and document reference designs with FPGAs and embedded platforms.

  • Develop technical collateral including application notes, articles, tradeshow demonstrations, and digital content

  • Conduct technical training for the field applications and sales teams, distributors, and customers

  • Support field applications team to win business opportunities

  • Evaluate competitive threats, identify market trends, and anticipate future market and technology requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computer Engineering or equivalent with 5+ years' experience with embedded systems development

  • Experience working with FPGA development tools like Intel's Quartus Prime and IDEs for embedded system development such as IAR, Eclipse, Mbed, or equivalents

  • Proficiency with hardware description languages for design and verification, such as VHDL, Verilog and System Verilog

  • Experience with programming languages like C/C++ and Python

  • Experience with engineering design, simulation, automation, and analysis tools like LabVIEW and Matlab

  • Printed circuit board design experience and exposure to PCB design EDA tools is required

  • Prior experience developing or deploying automated test systems and measurement hardware highly desirable

  • The ability to design analog/ mixed signal precision circuits is an important plus.

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills of board-level electronic circuits and systems with standard electronic test and measurement equipment such as multimeters, power supplies, oscilloscopes, and function generators

  • Proven ability to see a project through the conception, prototyping, debug, and production life cycle

  • Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to understand and clearly articulate technical issues

  • Strong verbal and written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills are an essential requirement for this role

  • Be self-motivated, driven, and outgoing with a willingness to learn and adapt

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time to visit customers in the U.S., Europe and Asia
