We are looking for a talented Embedded Controls Software Engineering Manager to join our team specializing in engineering for our Accelera Business by Cummins, Inc. in Troy, Michigan.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
This applied technology, developing leadership position creates software that is sold as an integral part of Cummins' products and people in these positions will have involvement in specification, design, implementation, testing and/or release of software that controls the operation of Cummins' products in a variety of customer applications.
Investigates highly difficult or specialized embedded software problems, understands causal mechanisms, recommends appropriate action, owns problem resolution and documents results.
Creates, manages, improves and applies embedded software development processes and tools.
Obtains input and negotiates with product and software development teams and delivers verified software features, components, builds to product teams.
Uses systems knowledge and expertise to make decisions in the areas of software requirements, architecture, design, and test that impact the quality and performance of software builds, product lines (platforms) and management of cross-BU integration and coordination.
Responsible for review of less-experienced developers/testers' work to ensure robust, reusable, and efficient design.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
Education, Licenses, Certifications
College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.
Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience
Prior Technical Specialist/Specialist Engineering equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving, quality decision making and providing technical direction and leadership to a project team(s). Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred
This role is classified as hybrid
Lead a team to configure and develop base software for embedded controls in EV and Fuel Cell systems, components including Inverter, BEV Powertrain and Fuel Cell Powertrain.
Develop a system architecture that leverages commonality across products where appropriate.
Support application software development teams with delivering base software, ECU extract and build for development.
Lead with best practices in agile software development, traceability, quality standards and validation.
Provide support and planning with program teams, interfacing software teams (service tools, production tools, telematics) and external providers.
Additional technical skills and experiences:
Experience with microcontroller architecture, programming and interfacing.
Experience with microcontrollers such as Infineon, NXP or Arm Cores is preferred.
Familiarity with Functional Safety standards such asISO-26262, IEC-61508
Familiarity with Cyber Security standards such as ISO-21434, Hardware Security Module (HSM) will be advantageous.
Experience with AUTOSAR base software is must.
Experience in AUTOSAR configuration tools such as VectorDaVinci Configurator Pro is required
Experience in AUTOSAR development tools such as VectorDaVinci Developer is required
Experience with compilers, TASKING, EB Tresos and debuggers
Experience with embedded C/C++ software development.
Experience with AUTOSAR architecture development tools such as Enterprise Architect or Preevision is preferred.
Experience with integrating embedded control software developed in MATLAB/Simulink.
Hands-on experience with equipment such as Lauterbach, DC power supplies, signal generator, oscilloscopes etc.
Familiarity with automotive electronics communication protocols, such as CAN, CAN-FD, UDS , Ether net etc. is preferred.
Base salary range: $121,600 - $182,400
Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate's qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
