Works with the Digital Content Strategy team to ensure a high-quality user experience of Sierra Club email for our members and constituents, by supporting internal staff with training, assistance, and automation. The Email Marketing Specialist will work closely with their team on managing a healthy and growing email program for the Sierra Club's national program. This includes internal user training and support; audience segmentation and targeting; building and sending email campaigns; testing and reporting; supporting email policies and best practices; and quality assurance of the marketing automation tool.

Job Activities:

  • Assist with onboarding and training users on the marketing automation tool (Salesforce Marketing Cloud).

  • Support national email staff. Work with IT and vendors to resolve issues.

  • Design and copy-write emails to brand standards. Create, test, and send personalized email campaigns from marketing automation tool. Use Salesforce for tracking and reporting.

  • Assist with segmentation, list management and lead nurturing processes within marketing automation tool.

  • Assist with the implementation of email policies and best practices.

  • Produce reports for national staff for individual email efforts and overall email program performance.

  • Assist with quality assurance (QA) and policy adherence of processes pertaining to executing email campaigns in the marketing automation tool.

  • Execute supporter journeys and automation using Marketing Cloud Journey Builder to create email series and complex multi-channel experiences.

  • Maintain a healthy email list through regular list hygeine and monitoring email inbox placement/ spam flags.

  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Knowledge and skills:

Applicants are not required to have extensive experience in all these areas. We are looking for someone who is motivated to learn new skills, is excited about providing ongoing technical support to their colleagues, and is driven to make a positive impact.

  • 3+ years of email marketing experience. Knowledge of HTML.

  • 2+ years or experience with marketing automation platforms; Salesforce Marketing Cloud/ExactTarget preferred.

  • Experience using a CRM tool, preferably Salesforce.

  • Strong knowledge of current digital and email marketing industry best practices and challenges.

  • Relevant experience with segmentation and analysis, including database queries and reporting tools. SQL knowledge is a plus.

  • Experience with customer service or client support is a plus.

  • Experience with A/B and other forms of testing.

  • Ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines

  • Sharp attention to process and details

This position is represented by a collective bargaining unit and is subject to the terms and conditions of the contract between Sierra Club and Sierra Employee Alliance.

This is a category 6 non-exempt position.

Job Overview/Summary The Marketing Transformation Specialist is responsible for supporting the Marketing Transformation team & helping us achieve our 2025 Strategy within the Marketing function. This role will help manage our media/advertising budget and help manage external agencies/vendor partners. This role will also assist in keeping our team organized and help coordinate social events. Key Responsibilities Key Responsibilities (in descending order of importance): Media/advertising budget management (40% of Time) * Ensure our media agencies input budgets correctly in MediaTools for all brands & media channels. MediaTools tracks our advertising/media budget. * Audit spend and ensure updates are reflected. Work back with agency Account Execs to resolve issues. This is crucial work for the company given the amount of spend. We must verify that we are being charged correctly net commissions. * Participate in the process to determine if we should upgrade to a different tech solution over time (ie Media Ocean). * Request new Donovan codes as needed * Play a liaison role with our agencies' accounting departments Agency/Vendor Relationship Management (35% of Time) * Lead relationships with some of our agencies/vendors * Keep track of key vendor contracts & renewals * Code & pay invoices in IDMS Support Marketing Transformation group (25% of Time) * Project manage Marketing Transformation projects * Event management.
