Email Marketing Manager
Root is a venture-backed tech company of 400 and (mindfully) growing. In March of 2015, we set out to build an insurance solution that accomplished two things: 1) provided an unprecedented user experience and 2) leveraged modern data to more accurately predict risk. The product that we created, a mobile insurance app, allows us to fulfill both of these objectives.
Root is looking for a passionate, creative, innovative Marketing Manager to guide consumers through their journey with Rootfrom awareness to download and beyond. As part of the Integrated Marketing Team, you will partner with your Growth and Product counterparts to design, implement, and continuously optimize outbound communication (email, push and SMS) to nurture each individual through their journey with Root, while seamlessly integrating with marketing and product initiatives.
An ideal candidate for this role will dive deep to understand Root's consumers, obsess about customer experience, and relentlessly pursue continuous improvementin results and brand sentiment. You will champion word- (and design-) perfect communication, partnering with the Creative Team to create and launch communication that exemplifies Root's brand.
Reports to: Director, Web/Content
Email/Lifecycle Marketing Strategy & Execution: Develop, manage, and optimize lifecycle, transactional/triggered, and promotional emails and push notifications and assist in integrated marketing campaigns to encourage initial and ongoing purchase.
Roadmapping: Own and manage a centralized communication calendar, responsible for maximizing the customer experience, while supporting Growth and Product in achieving their communication objectives.
Marketing Automation SME: Own and operate the marketing automation tool and ensure flawless ongoing execution of all programs.
Designed Experiments: Create and recommend segmentation strategies, and design and implement a rigorous A/B testing agenda to continuously improve marketing effectiveness/ROI.
Insight Generation: Use data and target audience insights to identify opportunities and inform creative strategies, content creation, and product development recommendations.
Customer Champion: Partner with Creative and the larger Marketing Team to deliver a cohesive and consistent customer journey, message and experience.
Dedicated Learner: Stay current on trends and best practices in lifecycle and channel marketing to help Root get and stay cutting-edge in our marketing overall approach.
Desired Skills and Mindset
Bachelor's degree, preferably in a quantitative or other business-related field.
3-5 years experience in developing and executing lifecycle/email marketing strategies, with particular expertise in email and push marketing channels.
Proficient user of consumer-focused marketing automation platforms like Braze or LeanPlum.
Highly analytical mindset with 3+ years experience developing, executing, and measuring A/B test plans to deliver improved effectiveness; proficient in HTML, Excel, and statistical analysis methods.
Excellent communicator with high attention to detail, and a proven ability to collaborate with stakeholders for content clarity, consistency, and accuracy.
Superior problem solver with ability to independently identify opportunities for improvement and make constructive suggestions for change.
Maintains a do-what-it-takes attitude to drive results in a fast-paced work environment.
