TRIO Student Support Services Academic Advisor

Bargaining Unit/Anticipated Salary Range: MEA Administrator; Level III; $45,236.44 - $50,914.02
Position Start Date: June 2024
Responsibilities: This grant-funded position reports directly to the Director of the TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) program and is an essential member of the team responsible for providing TRIO Student Support Services to 150 eligible participants. The Advisor will work closely with students with a special focus on academic and transfer advising. The TRIO Advisor works with students to create schedules, map out academic plans, create Student Success Plans, assist with adding/dropping courses, and help students navigate the transfer process. The TRIO Advisor will also be responsible for the TRIO Peer Mentoring program and supervise 1-2 mentors each semester. In addition, the Advisor will assist in planning student workshops, cultural experiences, and the week-long summer bridge program in mid-August.
Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in education or a closely related field.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience working with TRIO-eligible students (e.g., first-generation, income-eligible, and students with disabilities).
Effective advising experience in higher education & a passion for student-leader development.
Familiarity with Blumen and/or Student Information Systems.
Experience planning events and with student engagement.
Former TRIO participant or similar background preferred.
