Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY

The MHE II will have the ability to lead other service technicians, design solutions for difficult problems, able to manage outside contractors, be on call for emergencies, ability to handle multiple projects and daily activities, and meet time lines as per company standards. Develop plans on how to accomplish departmental and distribution goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain and troubleshoot all conveyor systems, electrical, pneumatic and mechanical

  • Trains employees as needed.

  • Provide feedback on tasks in the Preventive Maintenance programs

  • Complete assigned PMs and provide feedback on any improvements that might be needed.

  • Ability to install and maintain-- photo eyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, timers, solenoids, Servo drives, frequency inverters, linear drives, tachs, and encoders

  • Mentor technicians by motivating, providing guidance and directions to help them achieve their goals

  • Develop and maintain a good working relationships across all levels in the organization

  • Ability to provide enriched feedback to enhance individual performance

  • Work with teams to complete any additional projects as assigned.

  • Completes all safety training as assigned by the Company.

  • Compliance with all ELS safety programs, policies and procedures.

  • Perform additional duties/assignments that may be required by management from time to time.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Ability to work all days and shifts, including overtime (24 hours a day, 7 days a week operation, including holidays)

  • Experience and proficiency in the following areas:

  • Automated conveyors systems and controls

  • Electrical and electronic principles

  • Blueprint and electrical schematic reading

  • Knowledge of CMMS programs

  • Preventative maintenance procedures

  • Industrial electrical

  • Industrial controls

  • Industrial Electronics

  • Industrial PC literacy

  • Knowledge of N.E.C.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree from a vocational school or college with a focus in the Mechanical or Electrical field

  • 4 years apprenticeship or equivalent experience in the Mechanical or Electrical field

  • Able to manage, lead, and influence others on the team

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize many different projects and workload

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to communicate effectively, (written and verbally) with peers, management, contractors and vendors

  • Must be highly self-motivated and customer-centric

  • Leadership experience/aptitude, ability to mentor and develop training plans for other service technicians

Computer Skills:

Basic Requirements:

  • Basic computer knowledge, at an intermediate level in working with Microsoft Windows to include: Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Preferred Requirements:

  • EAM CMMS experience.

Biomedical Equipment Technician General Description of the Job Class Perform a variety of tasks associated with the installation and maintenance of diagnostic, therapeutic and life support clinical equipment. Duties and Responsibilities of this Level Level II: * Perform all the duties and responsibilities of Level I plus: Capable of being assigned duties involving the corrective and preventative maintenance to life support equipment * Consistently perform independently both routine and complex tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, and repair of a diverse range of clinical equipment and integrated systems. * Serve as a resource to Duke University Health System employees in the proper operation and maintenance of clinical equipment. * Assist in identifying and recommending replacement of equipment that is obsolete, has extensive repair history, or has identified safety issues. * Must be proficient with prioritizing work assignments effectively in order to meet Departmental goals and standards. * May be required to be on-call and respond per department policy. * Provide guidance and mentoring to Level I technicians. * With limited supervision, coordinate and manage routine projects from start to completion, performing any necessary communication and follow- up with equipment owner. * Assist with conducting evaluations of equipment as required. * When assigned, participate in the Device Incident Investigation process and provide follow up to management per Department policy. * Examples of devices assigned for maintenance are: Defibrillators, Incubators, Transport incubators, Patient monitors systems, EEG devices, Pacemakers, EMG devices, ventilators * Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
