Job Summary
The Counselor is responsible for providing a comprehensive school counseling program during and after school hours. The program will be preventative in design, developmental in implementation, and support students in the areas of academic achievement, career and college planning, and personal and social development. The Counselor also serves as a consultant to educators, families and community partners.The Counselor is under the general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services or designated supervisor, while receiving technical assistance, guidance and instruction. Additionally, the counselor works closely with administration and various social services agencies while supporting students during the school day and in the after school program.

Comments and Other Information
The East Whittier City School District provides educational opportunities (transitional kindergarten through eighth grade, including special education) for approximately 8,600 children. The District employs approximately 1,075 teachers, administrators and support staff. We have 13 schools which operate on a traditional school year schedule.
