The Fuller unit is a 55-60 bed, Post-Surgical and Trauma Unit with approximately 160 employees. The average patient census is 34-38 with a focus on adult post-surgical (total knee and hip replacement), telemetry, stroke, and general medical. Our Fuller Unit provides an outstanding supportive environment and advanced training for its staff. Elliot Hospital is designated as an Orthopaedic Center of Excellence!

About the Job:

The Orthopaedic Program Coordinator is a registered nurse, responsible for the development, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of a comprehensive Joint and Spine Program that complies with national standards for the quality of care for joint replacement patients as certified by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and North American Spine Society NASS). Serves as a partner with the program Orthopaedic medical director, manager, physicians, and a multi-(disciplinary team of caregivers in planning and coordinating all pre and post-operative surgical care. Responsible for program review, process improvement, interpretation of trends in data, staff education, while remaining up-to-date with best clinical practice guidelines, to achieve high quality outcomes. Pursues and maintains all aspects of the Orthopaedic Center of Excellence Designation. What You'll Do:

  • Accountable for the quality management of the Orthopaedic program.

  • Collects, analyses, and utilizes patient outcome data in collaboration with the physician practices to develop performance improvement initiatives.

  • Leads multidisciplinary care teams to drive continuous improvement and provides ongoing monitoring to promote best outcomes for patients.

  • Oversight of clinical pathways/order sets for Joint and Spine patients while monitoring the patient path of peri-operative care, treatment, and services.

  • Provides required and ongoing education and training to stakeholders in Orthopaedic care including patients and families, nurses, providers, and ancillary services.

  • Conducts program reviews to determine achievement towards goals, objectives and quality outcomes that promotes effective care and treatment of total joint and spine surgeries. Facilitates change in the program to ensure compliance and high-quality care.

  • Ensures appropriate certification and re-certification of the Hip/knees, Shoulders, & Spine Program to achieve DNV Orthopaedic Center of Excellence Designation.

  • Maintains a current, in depth knowledge of Orthopaedic specific guidelines and quality measures as set forth by the American Academy of Orthopaedic (AAOS), North American Spine Society (NASS), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Det Norske Veritas (DNV), Joint Commission (TJC), National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses (NAON), Association of Perioperative Registered nurses (AORN), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA), and American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) best practices.

  • Serves as Chair of the multidisciplinary Orthopaedic Committee which meets regularly to discuss pertinent issues and process improvement initiatives. Escalates needs and issues appropriately.

Who You Are:

  • Graduate of an accredited RN program, BSN required, Master's degree desired

  • Minimum of five (5) years current RN experience in an acute care setting, including a minimum of three (3) years in Surgical Services. Previous Program Coordinator or program management experience preferred.

  • License to practice as a registered nurse in the state of NH. National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses (NAON) certification preferred.

  • Software/Hardware: Proficient knowledge and experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and electronic medical records.
