Job Description:

In our Respiratory Therapy department, we are committed to transforming lives through personalized care, cutting-edge techniques, and a patient-centered approach. Our state-of-the-art facility is equipped with the latest technology and resources to empower our technologists to provide the best care possible.

The Respiratory Therapy Unit consist of 29 employees that provide 24/7 coverage to a patient population that ranges from Adult, Pediatric, and Infant. The unit is home to a Level 3 Neonatal team. Shifts are generally 12 hours.

About the Job:

Provides 24-hour accountability for clinical, operational, human resources and financial management of the respiratory department. Accountable for the delivery of high-quality respiratory therapy care across clinical areas. Provides leadership, consultation and collaboration with administrators, physicians, nurses and other members of the healthcare team to design, evaluate, and improve patient care systems and processes.

What You'll Do:

  • Serves as a clinical role model and can performs all duties of a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) in the delivery of patient care to all ages.

  • Collaborates with the Director and other stakeholders to develop and evaluate clinical quality performance improvement initiatives.

  • Ensures the appropriate skill and experience of the RCP along with number of staff are available to meet the needs of the patient population

  • Coordinates clinical student rotations with affiliating accredited Respiratory Care education programs

  • Collaborates with staff and other educational resources to develop, implement, and monitor departmental orientation, competencies, and educational programs.

  • Ensures respiratory equipment and supplies meets necessary standards. Evaluates new products to support patient care needs. Collaborates with the department assistant in managing the respiratory supply chain.

  • Initiates and approves personnel activities including, but not limited to hiring, transferring, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and terminating, with the support of the Director as needed.

  • Establishes and communicates performance expectations and assist with development of professional goals of each staff member. Monitors and evaluates staff performance. Conducts timely in-the-moment coaching and annual performance evaluations.

  • Evaluates trends related to vacancy and turnover. Develops plans to address needs of department.

  • Ensures staff completion of required certifications. Encourages and supports staff to achieve specialty certification.

  • Drives organizational and department specific goals and strategic imperatives while monitoring performance against plans.

  • Collaborates with the Director to prepare annual departmental budget including projected revenues, staffing plans, operating expenses and capital related requests. Involves staff and medical staff when possible.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelors of an accredited respiratory program or associates in respiratory care with bachelor's in business or healthcare related field required. Master's in healthcare related field preferred.

  • Minimum of five years of clinical respiratory care experience in routine, acute, and emergency care areas required. Previous management or supervisory experience required.

  • National Board of Respiratory Care RRT; current State of New Hampshire Respiratory Care Practitioner License; BLS.
