POSITION:
ELL Coach - High School
And any positions that result from the filling of this posting.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Secondary Michigan Teaching Certificate
SIOP Trainer of Trainers OR SIOP trained
ESL endorsement
Trained in Language and Literacy for ELLs
Minimum of 5 years experience working with ELL and academically disadvantaged students at high school level
Ability to speak Spanish preferred
Other qualifications as deemed necessary per Grant and/or Board of Education
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in planning, developing, and implementing curriculum instruction for High School ELL/At-Risk students.
Demonstration of competent communication skills with teachers, administrators, parents, and students.
Demonstration of competent organizational and writing skills.
Demonstrated experience using and interpreting formative and summative assessment data.
Other qualifications as deemed necessary per Grant and/or Board of Education
DUTIES:
Provide leadership, support, and assistance to teachers and administrators in the planning and implementation of researched-based ELL best practices.
Provide evaluation and testing for non-English speaking and limited proficiency students
Provide instruction to each EL/LEP student appropriate to his/her level as determined by assessments.
Maintain records for each student's individual and academic instructional program.
Provide periodic written reports to parents of EL/LEP students in regard to child's progress.
Provide assessments for newly arriving non-English speaking students.
Consult with classroom teachers regarding each student's programming to develop plan that guides appropriate instruction
Provide on-going support and resource information to EL paraprofessionals and classroom teachers
Provide effective direct services to students
Experience in evaluating, selecting, and implementing appropriate instructional materials.
Lead the implementation of SIOP and Language and Literacy at secondary level.
Provide coaching and support to teachers.
Demonstrate model lessons for ESL, classroom teachers using SIOP and differentiation techniques.
Consult with teachers to modify and differentiate instruction and assessment for English Language Learners.
Present at professional meetings.
Support the ongoing development and implementation of district-wide initiatives.
Facilitate standardized testing, including the WIDA exam for EL/LEP Students
