Bilingual skills in both Spanish and English are preferred, but not a requirement for this position. This position may receive a 5% differential pay based on passing the required language test.

Bilingual differential pay is provided to positions that require the use of a language other than English to fulfill their job duties within their position. Bilingual differential pay is 5% of the employee's base pay.

YOUR DUTIES AT A GLANCE:

  • Determine financial eligibility for Medicaid/Medical Assistance Programs, Supplemental Assistance Program (SNAP), Employment Related Day Care (ERDC), and Long-Term Care Services (LTCS).

  • Interview applicants in person, by phone, by email, to gather information needed to assess and determine if there is a need for services and benefits.

  • Provide good customer service by ensuring information provided is given timely and accurately, responses are made in a calm, courteous and respectful manner.

  • You will update narrative report summarizing new information from client and collateral sources.

IF YOU HAVE ELIGIBILITY EXPERIENCE IT IS NECESSARY TO EXPLAIN IN DETAIL YOUR JOB DUTIES IN DETERMINING ELIGIBILITY IN ORDER TO MEET MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS LISTED BELOW.

WHAT YOU NEED TO QUALIFY/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two years of experience determining eligibility for an agency program by interviewing to assess the needs of clients and interpreting and applying the policies, rules, and guidelines applicable to the client's situation.

  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience relative to the class concept.

ESSENTIAL ATTRIBUTES

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Experience delivering excellent customer service, demonstrate exceptional communication skills while interacting with the public, coworkers, and managers.

  • Experience explaining and articulating complex laws, rules, and policies in a customer-focused manner, to a non-technical audience.

  • Accuracy and Attention to detail ensuring you have a complete understanding of the task you're working on.

  • Experience with accurately completing highly technical and detailed work

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work is conducted in offices and other program sites.

  • Work can require travel, including overnight.

  • Requires a valid driver's license or other acceptable method of transportation. Must have an acceptable driving record.
