Basic Functions: Provides professional financial counseling to self-paying patients and establishes a bill liquidation method that is fair and equitable to the patient and to LMC District.

Audits all assigned accounts to insure other funding sources have been exhausted and then subsequently provides account information to patient and other party payors.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma Minimum of (2) two years experience in a healthcare, collections, Benefits, Registration or Customer Service setting Must be familiar with medical terminology, procedures and coding Experience with PCs and other office equipment Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrates ability to work well with people and handle potentially stressful situations.

Demonstrates appropriate communication of information to all ages and responds to all customers/patients requests and needs, i.e. Hearing impaired, language barrier, sensitive to various disabilities, etc. Must be able to simultaneously manage multiple complex tasks and possess a high degree of flexibility of skills.

Demonstrates ability and willingness to adapt to special circumstances such as patient emergencies, disasters and/or staffing problems. Working knowledge of Fair Debt Collection Act, accessing Credit Bureau information and Budget workups regarding payment plans for patients. Preferred Qualifications College Degree in Business or Finance or some completion of related college coursework 5+ years experience in hospital/physician billing office

The Intake Counselor serves as the first point of contact for referral sources and potential patients to schedule assessments and/or admissions. * Thoroughly assesses and completes the assessment tool for all clients as required by Three Rivers Behavioral Health. * Assist clients in being admitted or referred out to the service or resource to best address their needs. * Documenting findings, recommendations and outcome. * Triage, insurance precertification, computer entry and data analysis & clinical documentation.
