Position Summary

Primary responsibility is the operation of the grain elevator as it pertains to loading, unloading and transferring grain and grain products in an efficient, safe and sanitary manner. Also assists or leads in all other aspects of grain handling, storage, maintaining facilities/equipment and elevator operations.

Reporting and Working Relationships

This position reports directly to the Elevator Manager but has a dotted line to the Asst. Elevator Manager and/or Elevator Superintendent.


  • Assists in all areas of the loading, unloading and transferring of grain and grain products for truck, barge, rail (location specific) and inspects barges, trucks and railcars before loading.

  • Gauges and reports product levels in grain storage, trucks, barges and railcars

  • Perform housekeeping and cleaning duties and assists in basic maintenance

  • Know and understand all facets of Bunge's safety programs and culture, lead safety talks and recognize HPE's and other job related hazards around the facility.

  • Performs grain receiving, weighing and grading duties and visually monitors grain and grain products for irregularities

  • Ability to operate more advanced equipment and help with larger maintenance projects


  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent desired

  • 1-2 years of experience

  • Basic written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a safety conscious environment

  • Ability to work in a highly quality controlled environment.

  • Proficient operating basic equipment (mower, tractor, boat, etc.)

  • Some mechanical background including the ability to recognize signs of operation failure

  • Ability to maintain a good working relationship with other facility personnel.

  • Agricultural experience preferred


Work Hours and Conditions

Harvest Season Hours (60 plus per week)

Non Harvest Season Hours (40-50 per week)

Additional Position Information

  • Under supervision performs bin treatments, grain binning and conveyor operations.

  • Ability to understand the basics of weighing & grading, sampling and testing

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

  • Walking

  • Walking on catwalks at a variety of heights

  • Climbing stairs and ladders

  • Lifting up to 75 lbs

  • Bending

  • Stooping

  • Shoveling product

  • Entering and working in confined spaces

  • Working at heights up to 200 ft. with appropriate safety equipment

  • Working outdoors in a broad range of climate conditions

  • Working over water

What You'll Do As the Environmental Coordinator, you will coordinate local implementation of environmental compliance, company policies and programs related to environmental management systems, and sustainable development; and oversees or performs the work necessary to insure adherence to environmental regulations, and attainment of business values and objectives. Other duties will include: * Ensure compliance with applicable HSE performance standards, objectives and regulations * Ensure all required reports are completed and submitted to government agencies as required * Review new and existing environmental regulations and advise company management in order to assure full compliance. * Monitor company compliance with regulations through review of discharge monitoring reports, hazardous waste report, surveys and other documents and correspondence submitted to regulatory agencies, including reviewing reports from operating personnel in order to assure full compliance. * Advise company management on anticipated regulatory changes and prepare compliance strategies that will require significant capital investment or increases in operating costs in order to meet corporate business goals. * Assist Engineering and Operations in planning for compliance with regulations in connection with new or modified operations (e.g., new plants or processes, formulation changes) in order to assure compliance. * Conduct training for operating personnel in order to meet regulatory, safety and business needs. * Draft or assist in the preparation of permit and renewal applications, responses to notices of deficiency, notices of violations, surveys, reports and any other requests for information from environmental agencies. * Obtain Legal Department input on major permits, notice of violations, and other environmental compliance issues of a legal nature to assure full compliance. What We're Looking For: * Bachelor's Degree or higher in environmental science or related discipline such as chemistry, biology or engineering required * Four years' experience with environmental regulations relating to chemical industries * Knowledge of environmental programs, controls, liability abatement and management systems * Solid, practical understanding of national and local environmental laws and regulations.
