Position Summary:

Primary responsibility is the operation of the grain elevator as it pertains to loading, unloading and transferring grain and grain products in an efficient, safe and sanitary manner. Also assists or leads in all other aspects of grain handling, storage, maintaining facilities/equipment and elevator operations.

Core Functions:

  • Assists in all areas of the loading, unloading and transferring of grain and grain products for truck, barge, rail (location specific) and inspects barges, trucks and railcars before loading.

  • Gauges and reports product levels in grain storage, trucks, barges and railcars

  • Perform housekeeping and cleaning duties and assists in basic maintenance activities

  • Know and understand all facets of Bunge's safety programs and culture, lead safety talks and recognize HPE's and other job related hazards around the facility.

  • Performs grain receiving, weighing and grading duties and visually monitors grain and grain products for irregularities.

  • Ability to operate more advanced equipment and help with larger maintenance projects

Skill/Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent desired

  • 1-2 years of experience

  • Basic written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a safety conscious environment

  • Ability to work in a highly quality controlled environment.

  • Proficient operating basic equipment (mower, tractor, boat, etc.)

  • Some mechanical background including the ability to recognize signs of operation failure

  • Ability to maintain a good working relationship with other facility personnel.

  • Agricultural experience preferred

Work Hours and Conditions

Harvest Season Hours (60 plus per week)

Non Harvest Season Hours (40-50 per week)

The position is responsible for transforming departmental goals into measurable results. This includes supporting the team structure through leadership of department non-exempt personnel; supporting safety, food safety, environmental, quality, customer service, operational excellence, engagement and continuous improvement. This position works closely with all areas of the facility in supporting projects, including Manufacturing Technology, and Continuous Improvement (CI) operational improvement opportunities. 40% - Talent Management * Supervise production employees with full human resource management responsibilities including hiring, scheduling, motivating, handling employee relations issues, and processing employee related paperwork. * Develop and coach employees through Cargill performance management processes, as well as managing the disciplinary process. * Ensure work team complies with Cargill and facility policies and procedures and regulatory requirements. * Build employee engagement through positive working relationships and promotion of an enthusiastic and open atmosphere where employees will want to offer their ideas. 25% - Operations * Organize, plan, and manage the Elevator & Loadout process on a daily shift basis in terms of safety, product safety, product quality, customer satisfaction, time delivery, costs, and environment. * Participate/Lead in daily production meetings. * Plan, lead, and support production shutdowns. * Contribute and monitor annual production plan for department as well as standards and goals. * Ensure work performed by staff are according to specifications and standards * Use lab analysis and coordinates issues with technical services. * Monitor parts inventory and operating supplies, ensure availability of consumable supplies, and provide communication to ensure the procurement of necessary supplies to maintain safe and efficient operations while monitoring purchase orders. * Utilize technical skills and operations experience to promote the identification and solution of workplace problems and recommends and implements operating efficiencies * Develop, submit, and follow through with projects to meet budget and timeline. * Coordinate rail switching for the site * Manage expenses and provides monthly budget report, including explanation of unusual items. * Troubleshoot causes of customer issues and collaborates with other functions as needed to provide efficient and effective resolution. 25% - Safety * Hold others accountable to Cargill's safety standards * Manage Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) program and compliance within production area. * Follow all Cargill safety rules and regulations. 10% - Miscellaneous * Attend various safety, department and training meetings. Facilitate meetings as required. * Work on various projects as requested by the Facility Leader * Assist other plant personnel as needed, and perform any other duty as requested by Facility Leader. * Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment utilized by facility; determine immediate and long-range needs for maintenance and repair work.
