Elementary School Teacher
Overview
Building on a 50 plus year legacy of educational excellence, Link Community Charter School (LCCS) has built a strong community that demands the very best of all its members and delivers great support to its staff, scholars, and familiesl. LCCS teachers hold central responsibility for developing the minds, bodies and spirits of our students, working deliberately to change the trajectory of the lives of our young scholars thus bridging the acadmic and opportunity gaps that exist in underresourced and low income communities. Classroom teachers are responsible for actively delivering the school's curriculum and ensuring student learning that meets established standards. With a commitment to continuously improving one's practice, curriculum and instruction through collaboration as part of a grade level team, teachers work to achieve strong student results. Content area instructional coaches support the development of instructional staff. Teachers, in addition to holding instructional responsibilities, serve as student advisors and community leaders and play an integral part in the life of the school. All support the development of Link scholars working towards strong student growth, admission to competitive high schools and lifelong success.
The pandemic has highlighted Link's strong commitment to its teachers and students, as demonstrated by initiatives such as a 2:1 ChromeBook program for students, free wifi router for any student or staff member without reliable connectivity; new laptops for all staff; 2nd monitor for all teachers; home deliveries of supplies and care packages for both students and staff.
Continuing its path of expansion, in February 2021, LCCS was approved to launch an elementary school with Kindergarten to open in September, 2021. This position will be part of the inaugural elementary school team, helping to shape the expansion of a high performing public charter school. Kindergarten will use a co-teaching model with 2 teachers in each classroom, a dedicated grade level special education teacher and a paraprofessional. The school's nurses, social workers, instructional coaches, and administrative team will provide strong support for this new grade level.
The Kindergarten team of teachers will take part in a professional development/training program during the month of July, 2021 and will receive a stipend for such. Also during the month of July, kindergarteners and their parents will visit the school to see their classrooms, meet teachers, and take part in a Kindergarten Readiness Evaluation. The Kindergarten Team will then join the rest of the staff in the third/fourth week of August for annual Opening Meetings and Staff Retreat.
