Hours: 8 hours/day; 5 days/week--total work day is 8.5 hours, which includes a half-hour unpaid lunch. Currently, the hours are 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
The candidate selected will be expected to work evening hours when conferences are held, Kindergarten Orientation, Open House, and so on. For confernece evenings, there are exchnage days. For other events such as Kindergarten Orientation, comp time is used.
Description of Park Brook Elementary: Park Brook Elementary is one of seventeen elementary schools in the Osseo Area Schools District. Park Brook is unique in that we have a Focus on Fitness initiative, which is not common amongst schools. Additional information is below, and information can also be found on the Park Brook Website.
General Purpose of Job: Provide in-depth secretarial/clerical support to the principal and staff of the elementary school. Major emphasis is placed on the organization and coordination of the internal clerical office functions of the school including major responsibility for the TSIS system.
Focus on Fitness: Park Brook Elementary is a school with a Focus on Fitness initiative to increase academic growth and positive behaviors. The candidate selected for this position should support and understand the value of fitness for elementary students. Park Brook provides additional opportunities for fitness during the school day, before school, after school and with some weekend events.
Provide secretarial/clerical support to the principal and school staff in the form of typing, filing, duplication of materials, answering phones.
Greet visitors and answer questions/concerns for the school to include functioning as a liaison between the principal and teachers, other management staff, students, parents and the general public. Provides community resource information.
Maintain student records, all information required on cum files. Enroll and withdraw students; record attendance; request records for new students.
Organize and prepare scheduling materials for distribution for parent/teacher conferences.
Design occasional flyers advertising special school events.
Maintain a high level of organization of general files for easy, accessible access.
Direct substitute teachers to appropriate classrooms, provide class schedule, collect end-of-day reports.
Maintain record of staff absences including processing of required personnel forms.
Responds to health concerns during health specialists absence on a daily basis.
High school diploma or equivalent
Extensive secretarial/clerical and computer skills including: Publisher, Mail Merge, Word, Access
Extensive skills in developing and maintaining record system
Knowledge of district policies as they affect the general operation of the building
Ability to maintain confidentiality of the materials and information disseminated daily
Human relation strengths including helping, serving, and exchanging information
Strong communication skills; oral and written
