Our Lady of Malibu Catholic School forms students and their families in the Catholic faith while respecting the traditions and practices of all religions. We strive for excellence, unlocking the full potential of each individual, and building confident, collaborative, and independent learners.

We stress the total development of each child: spiritual, moral, intellectual, social, emotional, and physical. K - 8th Grade School Founded in 1958 100 Students in Preschool through Grade 8 Our Lady of Malibu School is conducting a search for an outstanding Catholic educational leader who will celebrate the values upon which Catholic schools were created while appreciating that the schools of today are not the same as those of the past. The Catholic school leader at Our Lady of Malibu will not only have a tremendous impact on the school but will also interface with the life of the Church community.

Our Lady of Malibu School seeks a leader who is well versed in current educational programming and pedagogy while respecting the tradition of a Catholic education. We are looking for a leader who is consultative and collaborative yet who is willing to make difficult decisions when they arise. The community wants a calm, confident leader who is knowledgeable about child development and the educational needs of children.

And the students want someone who will enjoy knowing them, yet be fair and serve as a role model. History Since 1958, Our Lady of Malibu School, known as Malibu's GEM, has played an important role in the Malibu community and in the community of Catholic schools. The school provides a strong academic program with a breadth that is unique to the area in a close-knit community of caring and involved parents.

Expectations Under the direction of the pastor, the principal, as a servant leader will be responsible for the following: Ensure that the school's philosophy and mission are communicated to parents and effectively implemented.

Create a vision for the school and develop a strategic plan that will guide the school in fulfilling its mission. Engage fully in the daily life of the school. Be a motivational role model and mentor for faculty, staff, and students.

Demonstrate integrity and fairness and lead in a consistent, ethical manner. Strengthen collaboration and foster transparency and trust through open communication, clear expectations, and full engagement of various constituents including the faculty, staff, parents, and students along with the parish leadership and community. Serve as the educational leader and work with the faculty to ensure that all programs are thoughtfully designed based on current research and that they are clearly articulated and consistently implemented.

Serve as the primary spokesperson for the school's strong educational program. Recruit and retain faculty and staff who are aligned with the school's mission and goals. Foster a culture of professional growth and development for all faculty and staff.

Lead recruitment and retention efforts and the implementation of the admissions process. Develop leadership skills in all students including in areas of service to others. Value and engage parents and members of the parish to maintain and grow the school's presence and impact in the community.

Comments and Other Information

REQUIREMENTS A master's degree in education or educational leadership A valid administrative credential (preferred) A minimum of five years of teaching experience A Catholic in good standing in the Catholic Church Successful fundraising experience within the school and broader community A high degree of discretion in dealing with confidential information An ability and willingness to work independently and as a team Strong interpersonal and communication skills A history of thinking creatively and a willingness to create change for the betterment of the school Wage Range The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
