Job Description / Essential Elements:Print

The Elementary School Principal is an important member of the District management team and reports directly to the Superintendent. The Principal's duties include:Establishing an effective learning climate

Setting the vision

Coordinating tasks in the organization and improvement of instruction

Establishing and monitoring student policies and discipline

Counseling of individual students as needed

Participation in extracurricular activities, including parent activities

Monitoring student attendance

Evaluation of educational programs

Coordinating, supervising and evaluating staff

Preparing and administering school budget

Maintaining a positive relationship between the school and community

QualificationsCommitment to maintaining and strengthening the District's quality instructional program

Candidates should hold a Master's Degree and hold or qualify for a California administrative credential

Effective leadership experience at a significant level in a school district

In-depth knowledge of California frameworks and curriculum alignment forK-8 schools

Understanding of and experience with budget management

Understanding of student attendance, SARB and Truancy CourtEffective communication skills with individuals and groups

Experience with a wide range of staff development activities

Experience with categorical programs, at-risk students and special needs students

Effective skills to guide problem solving and decision making

Experience with multicultural student populations

Ability to monitor student policy and discipline

Ability to supervise student and parent extra-curricular activities

Ability to work with diverse groups of teachers

Ability to work with the District's Administrative TeamOrganizational skills

Sense of humor
