POSITION GUIDE: Certified Personnel

  • Full-Time 12 month Contract (See Individual Contract)

  • Non-Bargaining Unit Position

  • Working hours will vary based on daily activities and night supervision.

Qualifications

  • Illinois Professional Educator License with a General Administrative Endorsement

  • Previous experience in administrative position (preferred)

  • Master's degree in education (minimum)

  • Successful completion of PERA training (teacher training required; principal training preferred)

  • Multiple years of successful teaching experience (preferred)

  • Knowledge and understanding of best instructional practices and systemic processes

  • Experience and/or understanding of working in a diverse community

  • Ability to use technology for data analysis and communication

  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, talk and hear. DUTIES

  • Supervise the overall administration of the school

  • Supervise the instructional programs of the school, evaluating lesson plans and observing classes on a regular basis to encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with research on learning and child growth and development.

  • Set the academic tone and actively work with teachers to develop and maintain high curriculum standards, develop mission statements, and set performance goals and objectives.

  • Hire, evaluate, and help improve the skills of teachers and other staff.

  • Prepare reports, registration/orientation of students and evaluation of staff. Participate in the school and district-based staff development programs.

  • Assist on daily discipline throughout the school and address special issues as necessary.

  • Lead district level meetings, programs and staff development planning activities.

  • Establish annual performance goals that reflect the educational philosophy of the school and district by which the school's progress will be evaluated.

  • Supervise and evaluate assigned certified and non-certified staff members. Recruit, select and orient all new personnel.

  • Supervise the kitchen and custodial staff for the building to ensure standards are being maintained and students have a clean safe environment in which they attend school.

  • Enforce the student handbook and assign consequences for handbook infractions.Assist with substitute teachers.

  • Prepare reports for district or other personnel as needed.

  • Assist in scheduling facility use by school and outside groups.

  • Attend all IEP meetings assigned by case managers as necessary.

  • Develop clearly understood procedures and provide regular drills for emergencies and disasters.

  • Maintain/establish procedures that create attractive, organized, functional, healthy, clean, and safe facilities, with proper attention to the visual, acoustic and temperature needs.

  • Maintain/establish an effective inventory system for all school supplies, materials and equipment.

  • Communicate with the Board of Education regularly about the needs, successes and general

  • operation of the school.

  • Attend regular and special district school board meetings.

  • Establish procedures for safe storing and integrity of all public and confidential school records.

  • Assumes responsibility for development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum designed to better meet needs of students of varying abilities and interests and of differing vocational goals in conjunction with the Curriculum Director.

  • Assist in developing a master schedule for registration, scheduling of students, report cards, student personnel records and state reports.

  • Organizes and develops a school climate that promotes adequate discipline of students, rapport with teachers, and understanding of parents to the end of an excellent learning environment.

  • Cooperates with all administrative personnel, teaching staff, parents, students, and others in assuring the best education for all pupils. Directs and ensures supervision of all extra-curricular activities.

  • Responsible for a positive public relations program with parents and community in general.

  • Accepts the responsibility of acting as a liaison in working with interested citizens in the interpretation of the school programing and policies.

  • Assumes the responsibility for the safety and administration of the school plant.

  • Actively responsible for the preparation and management of the school budget.

  • Delegates authority and responsibility to appropriate personnel to ensure that school activities and programs are effectively implemented/supervised.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

  • Ability to react well under pressure, handle and balance multiple demands at one time, work with frequent interruptions, and perform duties and tasks at expected levels of professionalism.

Employment

12 Month Contract - Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Education Completion of mandated training through required mandated training.

Evaluation

Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of 1) Public Act 94-1039 (ILCS 5/24A-15), 2) the Performance Evaluation Reform Act (PERA - 105 ILCS 5/24-25, and 3) the Board of Education's policy on evaluation of professional personnel.

Salary/Benefits

Minimum $80,000.00 based on experience

Board paid single health, dental, vision and life insurance
