Novato Unified School District (NUSD) has 700+ staff members who, along with the larger school community, are responsible for the education of over 7,500 students. We have eight elementary schools, including one dual-immersion, one K-8 school, two middle schools, and two comprehensive high schools.

NUSD also has an Alternative Education Center housing a continuation school and an independent study student program serving grades K-12. Novato Unified School District is excited to find an educator with a background in Music for a position in 2024-2025. This position includes two sections (.4 FTE) at San Jose Middle School, and up to an additional .6 FTE at other sites TBD.

The ideal applicants would be coming to us with a preliminary or clear California Credential in Music with an authorization to teach English Learners. NUSD welcomes aspiring educators in the process of obtaining appropriate credentialing that would qualify for emergency permits. Novato is a suburb located in north Marin County, with a population of approximately 53,000.

We are a close-knit community, with a number of our population being lifelong citizens. Many of our NUSD parents attended Novato schools themselves. Our community is known for its more than 3,600 acres of open space, which includes a number of popular hiking and biking trails.

New NUSD certificated staff may transfer in up to 15 years' experience, allowing for placement on Step 16 - teaching experience subject to verification of employment. Novato Unified is only accepting applications on EdJoin.
