Position Summary:
The Taos Municipal Schools Math Interventionist is responsible for carrying out the duties of a teacher. Primary responsibility shall include student safety and appropriate collaboration and attention to each student's readiness to learn including needed guidance, discipline, and welfare.

Supervision:
The Math Interventionist works with a high level of independence and professional discretion under the general supervision of a designated school administrator. The Math Interventionist's work is governed, controlled, and evaluated by acceptable professional practice, school and district policies and regulations. Provisions of Taos Municipal School districts policies and procedures, direction of the supervisor, and performance standards and expectations as set forth in the collective bargaining agreement.

Duties and Responsibilities: (depending on specific assignment, duties and responsibilities listed may include, but are not limited to the following)
Communicate Effectively and Professionally with Staff
Work under the direct supervision of the Building Principal and indirect supervision of the Program Coordinator
Maintain a lab environment that is conducive to effective learning.
Carry out the following designated duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator:
Make certain student records are accurate and up to date.
Prepare required reports.
Order instructional materials.
Supervise students and instructional assistants (if applicable) assigned to the labs.
Make certain that the goals and objectives of the program are being met.
Assure an open line of communication between Math Intervention classroom and content area classes.
Attending programmatic meetings.
Attending all workshops and in-services as directed by the Program Coordinator.
Provide in-service training to teaching staff and parents as needed.
Maintain and update all required documentation for program.
Ensure that gains (as per program objectives) are maintained.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Valid State of New Mexico Teaching License
A, Degree in Math, or related subject areas in appropriate level (elementary or secondary)
Must meet all requirements as set by the State of New Mexico Public Education Department.
Must be receptive to the following philosophies of the program:
Diagnostic-Prescriptive Approach to Math Intervention from the designated district program and other programs as determined with consultation from Program Coordinator
Individualization of Instruction
Ensuring of success for all students
Self-pacing of students
Non-threatening instruction
Positive reinforcement
The use of computers as a tool for skills acquisition
Be sensitive to all students' needs.
Must be adaptable to culturally diverse situations and be knowledgeable about the local cultures.
Must comply with health regulations as mandated by the State of New Mexico
Must always be able to establish and maintain good rapport with Program Coordinator, Principal, Parents, and Students and Instructional Assistants (if any) under his/her supervision.
Bilingual preferred
Must be able to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions, students, and parents.
Must be able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Must be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Must be able to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program.
Must be able to plan and implement lessons abased on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned.
Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents, and community.
Must be able to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication.
English/Spanish Preferred
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine and complex reports and correspondence.
Self-Discipline
Displays Initiative to complete Day to Day tasks.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule.

May be required to break up fights.
While performing the duties of this job, the teacher may occasionally work in outside weather conditions and be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, temperature fluctuations, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals commonly used in instruction and/or cleaning. It may be expected that the individual could be exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials during their duties. The employee may be exposed to infectious disease as carried by students.
The employee may be required to travel in school owned or leased vehicles while supervising and assisting students.
