SUMMARY OF OPPORTUNITY:

The Elementary District Math Coordinator will provide strategic instructional support to building-level Instructional Leadership Teams via professional development, walkthroughs, model lessons, data analysis and lesson development training. In addition, the Elementary District Math Coordinator will provide additional curriculum resources. This is a full-time, 12 month position and will report directly to the Director of Math and Science. Candidates should have experience in teaching and modeling effective, research-based instructional practices; designing and building curriculum; developing assessments and analyzing student performance data; and creating, organizing, and leading professional learning experiences for instructional leaders and teachers.

"Day In the Life" Overview

On a regular day, as Elementary District Math Coordinator, you might:

Provide strategic instructional support to building level coaches, administrators, and teachers via professional development, walkthroughs, model lessons, data analysis

and lesson development training.

Builds the capacity of school teams by developing and implementing standards-based, content-specific pacing guides and instructional materials. Liaison for digital learning platforms.

Support with the use, implementation, and training of district approved high-quality curricular resources.

Attend building-based PLC meetings to provide strategic feedback around internalization protocols, assessment strategy, student work analysis, and academic MTSS interventions.

Collaborate routinely with Executive Directors of Schools to coordinate building based supports across Learning Communities

Design and deliver strong professional development content aligned with district strategic priorities and departmental goals.

Support and implement that Indianapolis Public Schools' Rebuilding Stronger plan.

Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning and Director of Math and Science.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS

Specific qualifications include:

  • Must be deemed Highly Qualified in accordance with the Indiana Department of Education or their last state of employment

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • Deep mathematical content knowledge

  • Working knowledge of the Indiana Academic Standards

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of successful classroom teaching experience and working with other

  • teachers

  • Instructional coaching experience preferred

  • Experience in planning and facilitating professional development sessions

  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to manage the ambiguity and multiple priorities inherent in an entrepreneurial environment

  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with other professional staff members
