Our Community, Our School

The community of Whitewater is located thirty-three miles north of Malta, Montana. Whitewater is located in an area that abounds with recreational opportunities, such as hunting, fishing, hiking, and other outdoor activities which are literally minutes away.

Ranching, farming, and natural gas production are our major industries of the Whitewater Community. Our school is one of the major employers and the main source of community gatherings. Our town also includes two churches, a gas station, and a bar/café/store.

Whitewater is very community oriented. Looking at the size of the town, one is often amazed at how many people show up for school functions. This school pride is very instrumental in our continued academic and extra- and co-curricular success.

Whitewater Public School is a Pre-School through 12th grade building with an enrollment of 41 students with 12 FTE teachers. Whitewater School operates on a 4-day school week with our daily schedule from 8am to 3:25pm. We have updated many areas of our school that include kitchen facilities, 2nd gym with weight room, stage, and adult workout equipment, classrooms, and Music room.

Our Activities

Whitewater School District offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities. Our school has been quite successful in these activities either alone or through a co-op agreement with other schools.

We have won several state championships with our co-op with Malta in football. Our Boys’ and Girls’ basketball teams have been very successful as a co-op with Saco and Hinsdale, playing in several divisional and state tournament Saturday nights, winning it all in 2011, 2023, & 2024. The Volleyball is also co-oped with the same schools and have had a lot of success in the District and Divisional tournaments, capturing 3rd this past two years at state.

Our Boys’ and Girls’ Cross Country team have trophied in several state events, and we have had success in Golf as well with many individuals receiving recognition for their placements in the State. The Track and Field team have also had many State Champions and numerous students place at state meets. Our Band and Choir has been at the top of Class C schools competing in District and State Music Festivals and continue to be one of the best pep bands at all tournaments.

We have been fortunate to place several singers in the state Honors Choir and have even placed students in the Northwest Regional Honors Choir. Our academic teams have also seen success and recently were awarded the Northwest Energy Academic Achievement Award for 2021 sports season in Class C. We also offer NHS, W Club, Foreign Languages, Industrial Technology, and Business clubs and courses.

Technology

Our school believes in the use of Technology. We have found technology to be a useful tool in education if used in a proper manner.

This is an area that is ongoing in development. We have implemented one-to-one IPads and/or Chromebooks with many students using both. All rooms have a new mobile SMART board with on board computer and many document cameras and all Teachers have a new laptop along with extra devices, some rooms have extra carts full of IPads and Chromebooks for certain class functions.

We have put in all new switchboxes and wireless connections so that students and teachers are wireless throughout the building. This has allowed the use of college courses and other content courses to offer our students while attending Whitewater School.

The Position  

Whitewater School has an opening for a certified 4th-5th Grade Combination Room Teacher for the 2024-25 school year

Applicant: Whitewater will accept certified K-8 Education candidates or any certified teacher willing to obtain an endorsement in Elementary Education with provided financial support from the district. Interested candidates with a bachelor’s degree may also apply and then enroll in a state-accredited institution of higher education to pursue the proper endorsements.

Compensation: Starting salary range is $26,219 - $47,639 DOE.

Benefits included: Full single paid Health Insurance, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance, and affordable Housing. Whitewater will accept negotiated years of experience and has a contract signing bonus of $1500 per year and will assist in cost of education to obtain or maintain certification for position. New hires may also be eligible through the Quality Educator Loan Assistance program through the Montana Office of Public Instruction.
