ELEMENTARY SCHOOL COUNSELOR/SOCIAL WORKER/STUDENT SUPPORT SPECIALIST

TITLE: Elementary Counselor, Social Worker or Student Support Specialist

West Franklin USD287 seeks an outgoing elementary counselor, social worker, or student support specialist to serve West Franklin Elementary at Appanoose. WFEA is a PreK-5 building located approximately 6 miles north of Pomona. Enrollment at WFEA is approximately 190 students with 2 sections for each grade K-5.

USD 287 offers full paid single BC/BS health plan, KPERS retirement, 10 days of discretionary leave per year accumulating up to 60 leave days, sick leave bank is available.

Section 125 benefits & 403(b) plans available.

Salary will be per negotiated agreement and dependent on degree/certifications. USD 287 gives full credit for years of teaching experience upon initial placement.

West Franklin Unified School District 287 is comprised of two elementary schools, a middle school and a high school.

The two elementary schools serve Pre-K through grade 5; Appanoose Elementary is located in a rural location 7 miles north of Pomona, while Williamsburg Elementary is located within Williamsburg city limits. West Franklin Middle School, serving grades 6-8 and West Franklin High School, which houses grades 9-12 are on the same campus and both are situated in the town of Pomona. West Franklin Learning Center serves students in grades 6-12 who function better in a non-traditional setting and is located on the campus of Williamsburg Elementary.

The primary goal of the West Franklin School District is to successfully educate all students to the highest level in a safe and respectful environment. Technology is a high priority and is integrated into all subjects.

A strong emphasis is placed on reading and math skills in grades Pre-K through 5. Middle School offers strong academic core courses with a wide variety of exploratory experiences as well as opportunities to participate in a variety of inter-scholastic sports and extra-curricular activities. West Franklin High School offers 90 different courses as well as 28 extra-curricular activities, including 14 non-athletic organizations. WFHS partners with Neosho County Community College to provide dual courses awarded toward both high school and college transcripts.

West Franklin USD #287 is the perfect setting for those that enjoy small-town rural life with access to city amenities or lakeside fun. Kansas City, Lawrence, and Topeka are within an hour drive.

Pomona, Melvern and Clinton Lakes offer close recreational facilities for those interested in water sports or other outside activities.
