Elementary Assistant Principal

Responsibilities:
Assists principal with developing and administering general school routine, activities within the building and facilities management
Assists the principal and school council in the development and evaluation of School Improvement Plan
Observes, counsels and motivates professional staff towards attainment of educational goals of school and district
Implements professional development plans that are related to high student achievement
Reviews student data to determine areas that require change in instructional practices
Maintains a school climate that encourages cooperative and collaborative attitude amongst the staff and students
Foster of excitement of learning in all students
Works with district curriculum coordinator to ensure the implementation of the Massachusetts Learning Standards and innovative instructional practices
Encourages and initiates continued improvement of curriculum and teaching methods of classroom teachers, Special Educators and specialists
Maintains a standard of student behavior designed to command respect and minimize school, classroom and bus disruptions
Assists teachers with behavior management techniques in and out of the classroom
Supervises student attendance and addresses issues of chronic absenteeism and tardiness
Facilitates and attends grade level meetings
Maintains effective communication with parents, staff and community
Encourage staff participation in parent-teacher association and community-wide events
Evaluates and supervises staff designated by principal according to Massachusetts Teacher Evaluation System
Evaluate and supervise para-educators designated by principal
Perform other tasks and responsibilities assigned by principal and superintendent.
