Our Multi-Spectrum Warfare Research and Analytics Division of Leidos has an exciting position open for you, our next Electro-Optical Technologist, to help us and construct and test new and novel optical and laser systems. You will get to support work at AFRL facilities on KAFB and at other facilities in the Albuquerque area. If you like creating, building, assembling, modifying and/or repairing prototypes as well as collecting and manipulating technical data then this could be the job for you!

Fun stuff you will get to do on the job:

  • Construct optical layouts based on engineering input and schematics.

  • Construct laser amplifiers, perform optical and laser experiments, and collect data.

  • Assemble electronic test and measurement hardware.

  • Use software such as Labview to capture experimental data and to control laboratory systems.

  • Perform analyses of experimental data using software such as Excel.

  • Perform routine laboratory maintenance and cleanup.

To be successful in this role you must have these skills:

  • College level coursework in optics, electronics or engineering with 2+ years of optical / laser related experience

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a minimum of a DoD Secret security clearance

  • Knowledge of fiber optics, including cleaving and splicing

  • Ability to read and understand basic electronic schematics

  • Ability to analyze data and write accurate, concise and readable test summary reports

  • Ability to engage in technical research and development in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work well with scientific peers

  • Ability to understand and abide by government safety rules and regulations

  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills

You will wow us even more if you have these skills:

  • Active security clearance

  • Associates degree in optics, electronics or engineering

  • 2+ years of fiber splicing, construction and testing

  • 2+ years of electronics assembly and troubleshooting

  • 4+ years of programming with LabView or similar code

  • Expertise splicing large diameter fibers

The QA Technologists in our Department are responsible for providing quality assurance to the Product Realization Teams (PRTs) in Groups 2540 (Power Source Technology) and 2550 (Explosives Technology). The primary function of this role is to review submittal records for production lots, and to perform physical inspection of components to be submitted to the customer by the PRTs. On any given day, you may be called on to: * Be the QA Techs are quasi-independent assessors of the readiness of product and records for lot acceptance, providing information regarding defects found to PRT and supplier personnel for them to act to address the defects before submittal. * Offer suggestions to the PRTs and supplier for improving the quality of records, acting as quality advisors as well as assessors. * Clearly communicate information about defects and findings in a way that maintains and builds positive relationships between the QA Techs, the PRTs, and the suppliers. Attention to detail is essential in this position. This position requires the ability to travel on a frequent basis. Qualifications We Require * Three years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of relevant education/experience. * Quality assurance or quality control experience. Qualifications We Desire * Experience with graphic drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing. * Experience with statistical sampling techniques (e.g. AQL). * Experience with the use of gauges and other techniques for assessing product dimensions. * Awareness of engineering principles and basic technical responsibilities, including design and systems technology, within a designated discipline; * Experience in a production environment, preferably involving assembly operations; * Ability to work in a manner that exhibits a high level of detailed-orientation and work successfully with a wide-variety of people to accomplish objectives. * Effective communicate both verbally and in written form. * Demonstrated ability to read and understand written or verbal instructions, drawings, layouts, and other related specifications. * Current and active DOE Q-level security clearance. * Strong analytical skills. About Our Team Department 2557, Explosive Component Production Science and Technology, is responsible for explosive component production and planning, and preparation for acceptance activities. In addition, the department plays a key role in production analytics and in supplier capability assessment and development. The department manages building 905, including facilities operations planning (e.g. facility upgrades and maintenance), explosive materials coordination, and Maintenance of Capability funding.
