ASRC Federal is seeking an Electronics Technician to join our NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center team. This position provides technical support to the Mission Support Services team in support of flight research missions through the Dryden Aeronautical Tracking Range (DATR). This includes supporting, maintaining, and development of the mission control centers, telemetry and radar acquisition systems, data distribution and recording systems, mobile operations facilities, and other mission support systems.

This role is located at NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center on Edwards Air Force Base, near Palmdale/Lancaster, CA. As a part of this team, you will be required to work a 9/80 schedule with typical hours of 7:00am-4:30pm with occasional overtime, and possible travel, to support mission flight operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate highly specialized telemetry real-time data processing and post flight processing systems.

  • Perform regular maintenance on supported systems.

  • Perform diagnostics and repair of instrumentation/data acquisition system components, subsystems, and test devices.

  • Maintain procedures, records, logs, mission/system databases, and adhere to configuration control processes.

  • Conduct pre- and post-flight checks and troubleshoot instrumentation/data acquisition systems to meet the flight test mission schedule.

  • Assist the work group lead with the design, development, fabrication, installation, and testing of hardware and software system modifications and upgrades.

  • Build mission data displays using IADS telemetry client software.

  • Interface with customers and other operations personnel in a professional manner.

  • Cross-train in other functional areas to provide surge support.

Requirements:

  • Associates Degree (or technical school training) in electronics, information technology, or related field, or 3 years related work experience.

  • Problem-solving skills to diagnose issues and devise solutions.

  • Ability to safely utilize multimeters, oscilloscopes, and soldering stations.

  • Ability to fabricate and test coaxial and ethernet cables.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in both written and verbal forms, including comfort speaking over voice networks.

  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems.

  • Good understanding of IT systems, and applications such as Microsoft Office Suite and Visio.

  • Work in a team environment, under deadlines, and in ISO/AS9100 compliance.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Air Force Flight Line Driver's License.

  • Must be U.S. Citizen with the ability obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Clearance

Desired Skills:

  • Experience troubleshooting networks, switches, and routers.

  • Familiarity with Linux command line tools for compiling source code.

Physical Requirements:

  • Range environment with work at remote locations, prolonged sitting while using the computer and the telephone, constant use of sight abilities, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness. Ability to work extended and flexible hours including some nights and weekends. Ability to pass a heavy equipment physical exam required to operate motorized equipment such as forklifts, bucket lifts and platform personnel lifts. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. Ability to climb stairs and ladders. Work location is in a desert environment, and employees are in contact with various desert wildlife. Occasional travel is required.

This position is offering a pay range of $31.28 - $31.28 hourly, depending on experience, seniority, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law.
