At the US Army Aberdeen Test Center (ATC) within Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, Jacobs Technology employees, along with our teammate companies Caelum, SOI, eLe, and Trident ensure the weapons, vehicles, and equipment that the war fighter depends on are safe, effective and reliable.
Works independently by applying comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers' manuals or similar documents. Work requires familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence and in selecting tools and testing instruments.
Responsible for determining the location and density of circuitry, evaluating electromagnetic radiation, isolating malfunctions, and incorporating engineering changes. Exercises judgment in performing such tasks as making circuit analyses, calculating wave forms, and tracing relationships in signal flow. Uses complex test instruments such as high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control equipment.
Must have 5 yrs. applicable experience; or completion of formal training and 3 yrs. applicable experience.
Preferred relevant experience and skills: Installation, operation and maintenance of vehicular tactical communication systems to include but not limited to: Joint Battle Command-Platform (JBC-P), Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System (SINCGARS), and other integral components of the Army's current communications suite.

UNUSUAL OR SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION
Involves work with electrical circuits. The ability to squat, crawl, balance, and climb into or under a vehicle is required (up to 25%).The ability to reach above shoulder level, crouch, and kneel is required (up to 50%). Walking a minimum of 50 yards over rough terrain is required (up to 25%). The ability to bend/stoop and push and pull is required (up to 75%). The ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds is also required (up to 25%).
DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work environment may be inside or outside depending on task. If working in certain specialized areas, tests may be conducted on a random basis.
The ability to work in outside field conditions that include hot and cold temperatures and other outdoor climatic conditions is required (up to 25%). Must be able to work in areas where only portable restroom facilities are available (up to 25%). Work environment may be fast-paced and require work under pressure to meet deadlines associated with the completion of a task. Position will require multiple task efforts.
EQUIPMENT AND MACHINES INVOLVED IN WORK TASKS
Work involves replacing components and wiring circuits and repairing electronic equipment. Also takes test readings using common instruments such as digital multi-meters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, and oscilloscopes. The requirements include the ability to work around moving machinery/equipment, and drive auto equipment, forklifts and other equipment as needed.
CRITICALITY OF ATTENDANCE
Attendance is critical at all times during normal duty hours. Work outside of normal duty hours, including weekends and holidays, may be required with as little as one-hour advance notice.
OTHER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Must be able to communicate effectively. Must be able to obtain an interim secret security clearance in order to gain access to required areas, networks and systems within thirty (30) days of date of your offer letter.
Must further be able to obtain and retain a secret security clearance. Must be able to provide proof of U.S. citizenship. Must be able to obtain and retain unescorted access to work areas.
May be subject to other physicals or exams if required to wear a respirator or are designated by the COR to have other physicals due to the work area in which you are assigned. May be subject to exposure to vibration and noise. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment as required.
Must have a valid driver's license and personal transportation for the purpose of moving around on the proving ground to accomplish job functions and in order to operate a rental vehicle if and when travel is required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a military driver's license within 30 days of employment.
