This position is assigned to the Eastern Regional Maintenance Yard and is stationed at Harnett Correctional Institution.

This position will provide Journeyman level skills in the electronics field and will perform installations, diagnostic troubleshooting, corrective/preventative maintenance and repair on a wide variety of electronic equipment and systems, PBX systems, and fire alarm systems associated with correctional institutions. This will include the ability to layout and design electronic circuitry to support new installations and needs of the various facilities within the region.

Duties will require installation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair component levels of solid-state electronic equipment in control rooms, perimeter fence areas, office areas, physical plants, mechanical rooms, and other areas. Facilities utilize a wide variety of electronic systems for the purpose of maintaining security, including programmable logic detention control, close-circuit video cameras and high-resolution monitors, electronic intrusion systems (EIS) consisting of frequency modulated microwave transmitters/receivers, tactile sensor wire and wired and wireless LANS for security. This candidate will supervise the work of skilled and unskilled inmate labor to complete assigned tasks. Must have a valid North Carolina Driver's License or the ability to obtain an NC driver's license within 30 days of hire.

The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws.
