The Opportunity | Electronics Manufacturing Technician

Under direct supervision, the Electronics Manufacturing Technician performs functions associated with all electro-mechanical manufacturing operations, including translating operating instructions, drawings, and schematics into the production of parts, subassemblies, and modules. The Electronics Manufacturing Technician works with engineers in set-up, testing, and calibration tasks, as well as performing rework and quality testing related to the production of parts, components, subassemblies, and final assemblies.

Major Accountabilities /Deliverables

  • Responsible for reading and understanding drawings, build conditions and instructions, soldering, assembly, maintaining programs, assembly documentation, routings, and processes used in the fabrication of complex products.

  • Make recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new and existing processes.

  • Interface with the team to coordinate new product releases to production.


  • 0-1 year experience in a similar role

  • Understanding of Ohm's law, electronic components and their functions, and basic troubleshooting

  • Good interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills

  • Basic math and computer skills (MS Office)

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Technical/Trade School preferred.

  • J-STD or IPC-610 certification is an asset

This announcement will be used to fill a current opening for a Transportation Technician Apprentice  in our District 6, Idaho Falls location with the maintenance crew. This position may also assist the striping crew during spring and summer months and may require overnight travel. The Transportation Technician Apprentice has a 5 year horizontal career path, but could be completed in three years. Through on the job training, classroom training, achievement of team goals and agency goals, there will be opportunity to progress through a 3 Step program. After successful completion of each step, wages may increase as outlined below: * Starting wage: $16.50 * Completion of Step One: $18.00 * Completion of Step Two: $19.50 * Completion of Step Three: $21.04 Steps will be completed in 5 years. Incumbents are required to work in all weather conditions, under hazardous conditions, on obstructed roads and congested highways, in considerable noise, around operating equipment, and with hazardous materials. Extensive warm weather travel to and from work site with some overnight stay is required. Some positions require maintaining a residence within 30 minutes from their workstation. The Idaho Transportation Department requires pre-employment drug testing, and random drug and alcohol tests. This training program has been state approved for veterans education benefits. The position requires:  * Class A CDL within 60 days of hire (training provided by ITD) * Position may be required to work split shifts, weekends and holidays * Pre-employment drug testing, and random drug and alcohol tests * Perform entry-level technical highway maintenance and engineering work; performs related work as required * Operate a variety of power tools and light and heavy highway and construction equipment to maintain roadways, signs, bridges and other transportation facilities * Conduct routine inspections and field tests on construction and maintenance projects * Samples materials and conducts routine material tests * Perform entry-level traffic services activities such as striping and replacing and repairing traffic signs and posts General Information:  * Employees serve an apprenticeship in which they receive on-the-job instruction, classroom training, or self-study courses * This work involves working in all types of weather conditions, under hazardous conditions, on congested highways, around operating equipment and in a noisy environment * Working irregular shifts, overtime, weekends, or holidays is frequently required * Frequent travel to and from the work site with some overnight stay is required * This work involves physically demanding tasks such as clearing brush and lifting and carrying heavy objects * Applying for this job indicates that you are willing and physically able to meet the requirements as stated above * Some positions require employees to work with chemicals and toxic materials and incumbents will be required to undergo periodic biologic testing and pass medical tests while employed in these positions * Valid driver's license * Experience operating vehicles with manual transmissions Essential Function:  An essential function of this position is driving an ITD vehicle. Incumbents are required to successfully pass a driving record check to be considered for this position. Leaving the scene of a personal injury accident 2. Four (4) moving violations 3. Failure to submit to a chemical test Within the last two (2) years: 1. Three (3) moving violations Within the last twelve (12) months: 1. Accumulation of six (6) points 2. Driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs 3.
