Duties

Summary

You will serve as a Electronics Engineer in the Technical Department, Engineering Division, Re-Entry Systems Branch of SWFLANT KINGS BAY.
Responsibilities

You will focus on the numerous mechanical and electronic systems/components comprising overall Trident missile system, associated weapons, and components.
You will p[erform comparative analyses of resulting plans against contractor developed plans for accomplishing the subject processing operations.
You will Identify any inefficiencies/ ineffectiveness in contractor plans, and directs corresponding contractor processing plan revisions as required.
You will review and recommend approval/disapproval of resulting processing plan revisions or contractor justifications for deviating from the directed system/component processing approach.
You will monitor contractor installation activities to assure technical compliance with approved plans specifying the complexity of the system/component processing facilities, equipment, machinery, and operations to be employed.
You will certify resulting contractor system equipment processing complexes after verifying compliance with ail approved plans/approaches.
You will perform related duties including quality control coordination tasks required to ensure the quality of products/services resulting from work performed.

Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). You must be certified as a Career Field T - Test and Evaluation Level II (Intermediate). Certification is required within 24 months of appointment.
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
May be required to travel as the need arises for purposes such as training, attendance at meetings, and participation in work efforts at other shore activities, and onboard ships and submarines at sea.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.

In addition to the Basic Education Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NH-02 (GS-11 equivalent) pay band or grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a Professional Electronics Engineer providing technical oversight and direction on assignments in support of the planning or execution of weapons systems/component processing (i.e., design, development, test, maintenance, configuration management, reliability and maintainability, data control, etc.).

Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the ; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
